Buy the 100 first of all. If you're a katana librarian user (usb phone or tablet) to the amp you have a host of pedals, and yes you can have a tuner, importing and xporting files is easy, hold channel button on the amp to save the patch. That to me is the great thing about this amp, the ease and how easy it is to explore all these great sounds at a good price, it keeps up well with my 6505 and is plenty loud.

I owned a Boss Katana 100 mkII. With a great deal of effort, I could get it dialed in to my preferences at home with one issue. But EVERY time I took it to rehearsal, it sounded vastly different. That is not uncommon. And with typical gear, it's no big deal. But with the Katana, it's a deal breaker. I could make a few adjustments with the knobs and onboard controls. But to have the complete control I needed, I had to carry a laptop, connect it, and crawl neck deep into the weeds of the software while the rest of the band waited. NO THANKS! Needless to say, the Katana never made it to a gig. I sold it after 6 months of trying to make it usable. And the "one issue" I spoke of was the fact that I never could get a good guitar tone through the amp no matter what I did. No EQ adjustment or other tool could give it the punch I was used to in a good amp. Either the speaker, the cabinet, or the combination of the two always produced a brittle, lacking sound that disappeared in the mix. Boss makes some excellent products, many of which I own and rely on. But the Katana is not one of them.

@@MusicianWaveOfficial What are your thoughts about this amp vs the Marshall Code 50? and speaking of the code 50, Any issues with the code 50 so far? bluetooth connectivity and such? I'm thinking about buying one myself and my luck, they come out with a Code MKII, any chance of that even happening? please advise.

This is so nicely done! Professional. I have this amplifier, approx. 2 years. I haven't figured it all out YET. It's those channels and effects that mess me up. Something that seems IMPOSSIBLE to determine is the ohms rating of the speaker. Boss does not reveal that for some reason. The multimeter tells me 4.8 ohms. Too high for 4 ohms and too low for 8. So what the H?? KZbin vids argue back'n'forth about this but nothing definite. It makes me %$^@. I want to hook it to my 1 by 12 - 8 ohm cabinet but I'm scairdy to do it. I WILL have an adapter that facilitates this connection by the way. But I don't like it one little bit that BOSS refuses to specify the ohms rating on that speaker!!

What does your multimeter read when you connect the test leads together? If you subtract that wiring resistance from your 4.8 ohm measurement, it seems likely you will get slightly below 4 ohms, which is the DC resistance you would expect to measure for a 4-ohm speaker. For example, my Fluke 179 measures just over an ohm when connecting the two test probes.

Yeah other KZbin channels might do more post processing. Tbh I don't think it sounds very good in this video. I think it probably sounds better in the room. I'm not knocking his recording skills, I'm just saying it probably could have used a little more post processing. You'll never get the same sound on a recording as in the room so some post is fine. Especially on an amp like this that will probably be used for bedroom recording more than gigging.

@@redhorsereincarnated yeah I think it would make sense to jump back and forth between raw and post-processed sounds in these videos so it's something we might work on. We just didn't want to go overboard with post-processing and give people an unrealistic expectation of what this amp sounds like.

I can't get the Boss Tone Studio to work!!! Key point is... keep in mind you Can Not reach BOSS by phone or any other way! If you have any trouble with anything (such as never being able to get the Tone Studio) then you are 100% out of luck. I bought this new a little over a month ago and while it sounds fine and the knobs on the top are useful it only lets you do so much with the knobs. I only wanted the best practice amp for home usage but if the tone studio is the best feature and it never downloads and does not work then what is the point? At this time, I would rather just get another smaller tube amp and drag out my pedals.

No offense, but I think if you want to grow your YT channel, I'd suggest getting some original material. The Katanas have been reviewed to death on here over the past 7 years - every version, every iteratIon, every model, every feature. If you're not offering anything new or different, you're going to struggle getting your numbers up.
