It's the new generation hating on it. 80's and 90's didn't have as much high gain amps and scooped mids were super popular in that era so pedals were used a lot. Also it was the most gain you could get on your little bedroom practice amp. So it was able to do what everyone wanted. It was used on Slaughter of the soul. Primus used it. tons used it in the nineties. Only in the last 15 years does everyone want the exact same carbon copy 5150 tone. Also people have no idea how to used the parametric eq properly. So the kids never figured it out properly and when they bought an amp that had a simpler eq section they just assumed the MT-2 was crap, when it's their ignorance.

@IloveRillettes
@IloveRillettes 3 жыл бұрын
@@lsuraeru8679 Not sure if I'll be able to explain it in english but I'll give it a try. The letters you may find after a sound pressure level means that it's "weighted". The "A" stands for the weight of the human ear, because our ear is far more sensible in certain range of frequencies (1000 - 4000 Hz). So 100 dB SPL (not weighted) may be weighted at 80 dBA if its a very low signal (our ear is less sensible and fragile in the low frequencies) or 98 dBA if its more in the medium range. I hope I made that clear ?

Probably hated because of the sizzle, people don't remove it, the knobs are sensitive, and guys don't figure out that very slight adjustments can remove or introduce those unwanted frequencies. Hade gärna velat se dig köra ”coffee with Ola” med Joe Satriani. Kanske är lite svårt att fixa men de skulle varit jävligt intressant å titta på. Men iallafall, Grym videon som vanligt👊

Awesome, as always. Had an Metal Zone, a while back. Hated it direct, but absolutely loved it in the effects loop. One of a handful of pedal distortions that actually sounds better through the loop. Lent it to a friend, who I've not heard from in ages, but, I'm loving my XXX II through good Celestions, just as much. I'm definitely adding another one to my pedal board, which will NOT be lent out. Lol. Thanx, again, Ola. Keep on Chuggin'.

The pedal is NOT trash. The problem was every 16 year old bedroom warrior that played in drop D didn't know shit about mixing frequencies. Those concentric pots were way above their skill grade to use so they blame their suckage on the equipment instead of practicing. Later when they got more money (and slightly better skillz) they still thought it was the equipment.

My favorite thing that I hear guitarists say is "see if u add too much this or u scoop that then it sounds bad" and I'm like but that sounds fantastic "dont scoop your mids" ok but what if I want to

The problem with the Metal Zone is that too many people don't understand what the Middle Frequency knob does :P
@Robman275
@Robman275 3 жыл бұрын
Exactly, too many people run it into a clean channel with the gain maxed and no mids. That's why this pedal has such a bad rep. As Ola showed, if you use it as a preamp with decent mids, it sounds good.

basically yeah, i give mine a boost in the higher mid frequency and dial back the treble and it sounds decent enough
