I've had the MS-3 for a year and didn't really understand the manual mode; now I get it (start with a blue patch, and then in the red you can assign each switch to another effect to turn on/off.) Thanks. The MS-3 is the most versatile effects device I've owned, with the kicker being able to loop in your three favourite pedals.

Thanks James. Nice video. I liked your phone as a screen cam. It's really hard to capture the screen if the MS-3 from a camera that also captures the room. Hipsters'll be cringing'... good one! I like the way you are using the external foot switch for tap... makes me want to add that to my MS-3.

Great sounds. thanks for the video I’m seriously looking to get this I’ve been hearing about it where are your overdrives coming from for your own pedals?
@jamesm57445 жыл бұрын
Yeah the overdrive is from the amp or pedal. The ms3 is switching the amp channels. The overdrive on the unit is very good too though but obviously the amp overdrive is better than any pedal really..
@jeffreyvanhorn19964 жыл бұрын
I could listen to you demo this thing all day. Well done! Thank you! If you're programming a patch with a pedal added to the onboard effects, does the external pedal always have to be on the same setting? Or asking another way, could the same external pedal be programmed at multiple settings for different patches, or does the pedal itself always have to stay set the same way all the time? I just didn't know if you had to keep changing the settings on the pedal to change the patch, or if you could program the pedal with different settings, and save the patches without having to keep changing the setting on the pedal itself. That was a very long set of questions I asked! Sorry, and thank you!!
@jamesm57443 жыл бұрын
Apologies for the delayed response, no pun intended! It depends what mode you're in, pedalboard or patch. It's a simply toggle between the two and this can be done of the fly. Very clever design actually 👌

Great playing and sounds! Would you be willing to share some of your settings on the MS-3? Thanks!

I have it in a flight case mate so it would be a lot of hassle.. Its really easy to setup though

Are you still using the MS-3? Any challenges with it? I am looking at everything at/under the $500+ price range and I keep coming back to this! I like the internal patches very much and the loops let me add some of my favorite pedals ... very cool. Thanks for your excellent post, James.
@jamesm57445 жыл бұрын
I am indeed Stephen. I'm using it with a Boogie Triaxis rig and it's just fantastic. The three loops are used, one for the triaxis and the other two bring in and out my favourite drives. The MS takes care of all the fx then, I just use a external fs7 to control tap tempo and the bring in a boost, and a volume pedal. The Triaxis can be switched via midi too. All in all I've found the MS3 to be a very versatile tool. I'm using the new GT1000 also and have noticed the fx are very similar in quality. Both excellent units.

Hi James ,how did you get it to switch channel of the amp . Haven,t been able to get it working with either my blacktsar or my Katana head . Id really like to use it with my Katana Head . Any advice would be great.
@jamesm57446 жыл бұрын
Mark Lyons Hi Mark.. You need to use the ctrl outputs and set them up to suit your amp. The amps preamp is in one of the loops too

Absolutely Luis but really the MS-3 covers everything that you might have on the GT unit. Cheers..

Latency on the change patch/preset with the same or different effects?

None whatsoever, it will cut off a delay tail however. They've addressed this on the GT1000

Can you choose the position of the volume pedal in the effects chain? And can you change the position of the VP per patch or will it be in the same position for every patch? Thanks!
@jamesm57445 жыл бұрын
As far as I remember you can move it around yeah but not sure if it's per patch or a global setting. I know on the gt1000 you can do both yes.

Cool, I think this is the most important configuration in this setup. Awesome job. I need to get one!! I use Victory V30 Amp, but I found that the OD ch have more dark sound. With MS3 I can add an EQ block after the amp preamp!

Hey man, tell me please, does it have any well known DSP latency and delay while you change from one preset to the other like all the older processors do? Or it is a smooth transition, just like with a switcher like boss es-5,8?
@jamesm57446 жыл бұрын
Ana Pavlovic They are the same switching circuits as the es8 so its all good
