One huge thing you missed about using this pedal is using it for a boost for another pedal like a distortion pedal. You can take a distortion pedal say like the MT-2 Metal Zone or ML-2 Metal Core and turn the distortion back on those pedals for low amounts of distortion, then use the DS-1 Super Over Drive to kick those distortion pedals in to full mode for kick ass lead work!

this guy mics everything properly here, not like a lot of other people's demo's where they use a cell phone or something weak like that. the SD-1 has been my favorite OD since it came out 30+ yrs. ago. this is exactly what a demo on this pedal should be.

I've had mine since the 80s. Never let me down. I only use two pedals, Boss super overdrive and Boss super chorus. What else do you need? Oh, tuner.

Great pedal! I have a Maxon OD808, a Wampler Euphoria (love them both) but I love my stock SD-1 just as much. I'm actually going to do the Keeley 5 Star mod on mine but I will still have the option of stock sound if I need it...

These are so cheap compared to others, and it will do all you can ask of it. After all of these years, it is still one of my favorite OD pedals, along with The RAT and the TS9.

I usually keep my Tone at 3 o'clock and my Drive at 9 o'clock (after that it doesn't add much more noticeable gain). Keeps the noise low and the frequency high.

Few people understand how the SD-1 is, arguably, one of the top Overdrive ever made... For a very low price!

It is a TS808 circuit with a few values changed. Not exactely the same sound (really close though), but same structure, you could swap the different parts and have a complete ts...yet still a ts808 and its crappy dc input, faint led and fragile switch costs way more than a sd-1

This is also a buffered pedal, no true bypass. Can work for you if you're running a lot of pedals. It is best to put it at the front. Some disagree but most seem to believe that's the way it should be in the signal chain

Good demonstration of a classic pedal. It would have been nice to hear a little more tonal variation by changing pickups on the guitar however. Also, playing more chords would have been useful to hear the difference in gain stages as it is more obvious than by playing lead lines. Where the SD-1 really shines though is as a drive to hit the front end of an already over-driven amp. It would have been nice to see it used in such a common function as LOTS of heavy rock and metal players will use this pedal (volume all the way up, gain all the way down) in this fashion. Zakk Wyld's classic 80's guitar tone was a BOSS SD-1 right into his Marshall JCM 800's. In the 80's if you were not using a Tube Screamer, you were using this bad boy to get that definitive heavy rock/metal sound. The SD-1 is a great, and versatile, over-drive pedal, and while this video is a good demonstration of it's basic functions, there is a lot more to the SD-1 than what is shown here. With respect.
