Wow thank you so much! Your videos are so in depth and the most helpful I've found by far! Amazing work and the way you demo the pedal is perfection!!! For the price I'm thinking I will go with this boss pedal over the electro harmonix synth or organ pedals! Your demos helped me make up my mind!!! Thank you again!

Definitely an interesting pedal. Might be fun to send into some delay or reverb pedals. It’s a shame that it’s mostly different variations of “strings” sounds. Even some basic square or saw waves would have been nice.

there's a fair amount of different wave sounds on the other settings, my back just won't let me demo the whole thing at once haha! tbh I think the really great part about this pedal is the filter! Bit of a different thing to add into a guitar set up and run through some stuff :)

"It's a string pad setting.. Let's strum full chords!" EDIT: "And loose off-beat arpeggios..." Ryan, I love your ambient-y videos, but have you not encountered a synth pedal before?

Interesting! I don't see why a synth pedals "string" setting shouldn't be put up against either of those things? If I see "strings" on a synth I'm definitely playing full chords and getting melodic! :) Would you play differently? It's funny though, I've always felt with synth and octave pedals that my demoing style doesn't really showcase their full abilities.. but these days I think that's useful to an extent, seeing what a pedal can/can't handle at base level is good, but with these pedals I think people should also keep the bigger picture in mind :) some of these sounds with modulation, reverb, delay.. can evolve into something stunning! Thanks for the comment!

@@RyanLutton It's a synth in a pedal which is triggered by the notes coming into it. Would you expect a more traditional keyboard-based synth to sound nice if you just raked your fingers along the keys as opposed to pressing them down like normal? Of course not. The SY-1, the Meris Enzo, and countless other synth pedals are the same way. That is why I asked "have you not encountered a synth pedal before?" "Getting melodic" ...with a pad setting?!?!? Synth guitar pedals can't read the player's mind, they can only interpret the information the player puts in and strumming a guitar sends out a lot of contradictory information at once. In this case, you were treating it like a dirt or modulation pedal. That simply doesn't work with any synth pedal ever made. They are inorganic by nature. Try picking out triads or single notes. Think about it as a keyboard player plays their instrument.

Great and honest vid. That pedal sounds terrible. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Steven! This is a very raw demo, you might feel differently if you hear it played into other pedals :) if you're interested in a synth pedal, I'd suggest checking out some more demos!
