Boss: The Guardian - Spark the Electric Jester 3

Couple Fun Facts: You CAN beat this boss before the "correct" time. You get nothing for it but an alternate cutscene wherein the guy runs and Spark gives the camera (And by extension, the player) acknowledgement. Additionally, there's a mechanic in the game for "late" guarding. If you guard just after an attack hits you, you'll get the old shield break animation (Presumably, leftover from Fark) and fall, but stay alive. However, if you have no more HP (And thus, taking a hit would normally kill you) and do a late guard against this boss, it counts as the boss winning even though normally you'd be able to continue the fight.

I can confirm. I beat him both times in my first playthrough and got the same cutscene.

managed to beat him first try, albeit i was pretty close to failing, i guess my experience with just guarding (a.k.a. prtblck don' do it'ing) in xenoverse 2 really helped me push through

I'm gonna say it: What happens when you lose this boss is the biggest "YOU SUCK!" I've ever seen, like they know you're already trash. Watch out tails is dead, get ready for LETTING YOU CONTINUE NORMALLY. And that's not even the worst part, the worst part is Spark's face when he gets yeeted into the abyss I MEAN LOOK AT HIM. IF YOU COULD EVER FORGIVE YOURSELF AFTER SEEING *THAT* YOU HAVE ISSUES.
