Lovely. Dupont's balances are stunning, and the gentle boldness she brings to the character is so intriguing. Acosta is one of a kind as well - unbelievable jumps and turns, what a treat it must've been to see them dance together live. I'm so glad it happened and that there's some surviving footage! (:

It is breathaking watching Acostas dance! And he is a very good partner for Aurelie. I love this "Don Quixote" performance. Thanks for sharing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Acosta is so physically gifted, it takes the breath right away at times! I love how the dancers who have danced these same roles, many times, have made them their own, so that their stamp is indelible and doesn’t interfere with other dancers’ stamps! That’s why I don’t understand people who have to proclaim one male and one female as “THE BEST,” and watch others only to criticize and find fault. The unending joy of watching ballet is seeing _all_ that the dancers show us, bc they clearly dance with their hearts and souls as their guides!

Star of stars... Acosta is just so gifted and hot! Who would not dance better when in his arms? What a partner!

I was there. This was Acosta's Paris debut. Basilio was Acosta's best role. Few were better than him in this role; the best Basilio for me was Jose Manuel Carreno. And Emmanuel Thibault was sensational in his debut in the role (sadly, the Paris Opera Ballet gave him the chance to dance the role only twice). Aurelie was promoted to etoile on 31 December 1998 after a performance in this very same role (partnered by Manuel Legris) when the production was still performed at Opera Garnier in the original scenography of N. Georgiadis. I was there that night too. As for Ciaravola, she is a miracle of a dancer, with supreme refinement and class, one of a kind! I miss her very much!

Carlos really uses the stage space; he has certainly fulfilled his childhood ambition to fly and suspend in the air! Absolutely brilliant. And such a nice person too.

What a great joy to watch Isabelle ciaravola in this video, she is fabulous, really unique. Carlos and aurelie too, but isabelle is really a jewel a very wonderful ballerina, kind of natalia makarova or darcey Bussell, one of a kind. Thanks, you made my day, I wish one day I could see a video of Isabelle as Odette o Nikiya, I'd love to see her in those roles.

alain spiteri i am at the feet of Natalia Osipova, Marie agnes Gillot and, Svetlana Zakharova ! no jealousy here Dupont can’t even compare to those extraordinary dancers i just listed and many more , Agnes Letestu , Noella Pontois , Monique Loudieres, and lets not forget the unique Sylvie Guillem those were exceptional female dancers!
@leoninsf4 жыл бұрын
Chrystel gordon Zakharova is always late , by the time the music goes thru her little head she is already late with her movements, and although she has beautiful lines, she always lacks control of her turns. Often she steps out of her pirouettes abruptly instead of holding the balance. Just because she can lift her leg to touch her ear doesn’t mean she is that exceptional. When she dances, she barely looks at her partner, she dances for her fans in the audience, but never for her man ( on stage). Zakharova can’t be compared to the incredible Sylvie Guillem
@belledejour14 жыл бұрын
leoninsf first of all I didn’t compare Zakharova to Guillem , i saw Zakharova with Roberto bolle in Giselle and it was breathtaking, not as exeptional as Osipova of course as she is the only one to me that interpret Giselle and dances it the best.... Guillem had a fantastic technique but she always lett me cold i never felt moved by her like Osipova did, it comes down to about personal preference :) Vishneva too moves me.... Dupont leaves me cold ... and you can’t change my mind on that! :)

10'38 it's no the original Don-Quichotte but the second variation extracted from Paquita-ballet in 1890s ( Act Il ) for a gala performance in 19th C ; music of Don-Quichotte also is not 100-100 of Leon Minkus but a few part of John Lanchbery ( with the agreement of Rudolf Noureev) , at the end the actual Don-Quichotte is not the original from the first time at Bolchoi-Theather in 1869 . In december 1980 j saw this second variation ( here at 10'38 ) in ballet Paquita coreo Oleg Vinogradov at Paris-Opera .
