Play this game and you will understand all of this man’s jokes, then you will appreciate it even more. Matthias Torres is a HUGE bag to unpack, a long history of military service in the Erusian navy railroaded by the sinking of a battleship you sink in Ace Combat 4 (that he was in command of). What will scare Kitt even more is that not only was Torres put back in command of the _Alicorn_ but about 90% of the original crew were put back onboard as well, with 10% not onboard because [SPOILERS]. He is also the reason why “CRISP WHITE SHEETS” is an Ace Combat meme now. The Rage/Scream fight can end differently, as you aren’t restricted as to which you can shoot down first; the soundtrack changes depending on which one is still in the air (bass heavy riffs for Scream and frenetic drums for Rage). IMO I’d prefer to fight Rage last over Scream, given that Rage explodes with fury where Scream implodes with anguish. Ultimately what made Ace Combat 7 the best game of the entire series is because this game is filled with throwbacks to the PS2 generation: Ace Combat 4, 5, and Zero, and this is why AC07 is a beautiful experience to any long-time Ace Combat fan.

Round 2 of Amazing Ace Combat Lore. So, the Light House War. To be precise, its the war between Osea and Erusea. Important events to know before we talk about it are 3 (4 if you want to be precise) are the Osean/Yuktobania Cold war, the Ulysses comet impact and the Belkan war. The Cold war is basically responsible for any crazy superweapon out there, because Yuktobania and Osea were upscalling their military so massivly that other countries tried to at least not be a sitting duck in comparason. But most importantly, it lead to the Belkan War. I have already explained the Belkan War in detail on the Zero reaction, so i jump to the consequences for the Light House War. Thanks to the Belkan War, Belka was basically castrated as a country and became inconsequential to the world politics of Strangereal... is what i would love to say because Belka did nothing wrong, but thanks to the smiting loss in the war, radical Belkans founded something akin to the Illuminati, named the Grey Man. The Grey Man took control of a the "Osean" weapon manufactory firm Grunder Industries and started to produce cutting edge military weaponry, which they supplied to various nations to incite war across the globe as revenge for screwing their country over. This directly leads to another war that predates the Lighthouse War and we will talk about that particular war if ever Max0r decides to finally cover Ace Combat 5. Keep that in mind, next Ulysses. Ulysses is basically the big Boogeyman of Strangereal, followed by Belka. Ulysses was a massive comet that split apart in the atmosphere, causing wide spread damage on Usea and other, for the Lighthouse war irrelavnt continents. Various superweapons were developed to prevent the catastrophee, like the Railgun System Stonehenge or Estovakias Chandelier. Stonehenge protected Usea, but a small accident snowballed into Stonehenge not being able to protect all of Usea. A country was hit catastrophically. You guessed it, Erusea. In an act of desperation due to economical damages ocurred due to Ulysses, Erusea declared war and tried to bring Usea under their controll. That war is the story of Ace combat 4. Fast forward, Erusea got stomped, lost their elite fight squadron and even their own superweapon Megalith (BROKEN weapon that could have lead to Erusean world domination). In order to help Erusea out of their misery, Osea and the rest of Usea build the Space Elevator near Erusea. More on that later. Erusea saw that as an attempt to controll Usea from Osea, so they violently overtook it and declare war on Osea. Now you might ask "But how did they recover that quickly from the last war?" And my answer is: Belka. The Belkans have basically mastered drone technology and provided said technology to Erusea, which gave them the power necessary to become a threat again. Ace Combat 7 happens. So, the Space Elevator. Equally overpowered structure. The Space Elevator allows for cheap launches into Space. Sattelites, orbital weapons, space operations, you name it. Basically, whoever controlls the elevator controls space. On long terms that is. In the short term, the Space Elevator was so important for Erusea because it was the control relay for the Arsenal Birds. 2 Mobile, heavily armed Drone Hubs equipped with Forcefields, Lazers and long distance, nuke like rockets

Ace Combat is a lot to unpack. It's a war game series made by Japanese people so it's inherently going to be anti-war. But it ends up being this weird mixture of anti-war and pro-military. War bad, Aircraft rad. Still fun tho. It's like the Aircraft equivalent of one of those racing games with expensive cars... except they're multi million dollar aircraft. No preflight checking hassle or paperwork. Just pure aircraft carnage. It's glorious.

If there are any actual psych health professionals, they're either overworked or ignored by the brass. There are way too many crazies in this universe for them to be making a meaningful impact.... or they're keeping even more crazies at bay. The setting is bonkers, but delightfully so at times. Oh, and the reason for the superweapons development is actually because there was a really tricksy extinction class meteor headed for the planet. Of the various projects, the only one that wasn't destroyed, too late, or inadequate was Stonehenge. Human being humans, after the asteroid problem was dealt with, all the research into railguns, coil guns, weapons grade lasers, improved power conduits, power storage, power production, and more was turned to military pursuits. Also Stonehenge was probably actually being conceived before learning of the asteroid but pushed forward in light of an existential threat. Also people are just plain bonkers.

To explain some of the MASSIVE lore to this game series. Once upon a time there was a country known as Belka (Germany). They decided to invade their neighboring countries because of a collapsing economy and seize their resources. An allied coalition of other world governments fought back against their aggression in what was known as the Belkan War. On the verge of defeat, the Belkans launch a salvo of 7 nuclear weapons against cities in the path of the advancing allied armies. The armies were heavily demoralized by the wholesale slaughter, and due to the massive amounts of radiation they could not advance, so both sides settled into peace negotiations. Meanwhile, an international Cabal of soldiers from all sides of the conflict came together in a terrorist organization, stealing the remaining nuclear weapons and attempting to use them to "reset the world" into an anarchist state. Due to these scares, all modern nations signed a Nuclear Arms Ban that outlawed wholesale any and all nuclear capabilities. This in turn led countries to maintain massive standing armies as a means of strategic deterrence, which explains why they go to war so frequently; without the threat of nuclear annihilation of all of civilization, countries were much more willing to engage in peer-on-peer conflicts than real world nations are. Shortly thereafter, a massive asteroid known as Ulysses was spotted on a collision course with their planet, so the governments of the world built tons of massive superweapons to destroy it and its fragments, and promptly started using them against one another. This led to an escalation in the types and power of said superweapons. As for the individual characters within this game... yeah, none of it makes any sense.
