They seemed to have forgotten to dress as native Americans when tossing the tea overboard. And I never remember or knew that velvet pants were historically accurate for the 18th century.
@jeffreymcintire82738 ай бұрын
The velvet breeches actually ARE authentic...although you are correct. They did dress native. I'm sure they didn't thanks to the cancel culture "woke"lings.

@@jeffreymcintire8273 but only to the very rich. Well at least they weren’t wearing polyester 18th century clothes. 😂 I see some of the 18’th century reenactors and they dress in clothing more modern or someone pulls or hides their phone or watch. lol

@@redburban1394 There is a fine line between being a pedant and being someone focusing on the big picture which is educating a historically illiterate society thru theater and visual art. I mean right now we have LGBT white liberals and Black Americans who grew up with the fruits of USA privilege and liberty supporting islamic jihadis on the street and saying osama yo'mama "had a point". We just need people engaged with pre-1948 A.D. history period not pedantry

Last year, the organizers solicited the public to send in tea to be dumped. I contributed some Formosa oolong left from a stash my grandmother had given me forty years ago. Finest kind!

Wait, weren't they disguised as native Americans when this happened? Or is that culturally insensitive or something?
@jeffreymcintire82738 ай бұрын
Yes they were originally. And no it's not.
@Chewee3948 ай бұрын
They wore only enough Native American clothing/headdresses to disguise themselves, but were still clearly colonists. Not sure why they changed it for the re-enactment

What a special event! The quarter-millennial anniversary of the Boston tea party. 🎉🎊

This is most inaccurate deplection I've ever seen.. It's called the liberal reenactment... You see you get rid of everything that's bad that could hurt your feelings like dressing up as Indians in this case.. And you make it so everything was bright and rosy...

Today we'd call them terrorists.

According to actual written accounts, the protesting colonists dressed up as native americans when they dumped the tea, but planners for this event decided not to do that. Sad that detailed reenactments cant be detailed. You cant change history. It is what it is.

Fun fact or not so fun fact! The US is still considered the East India Tea company and a lot of our taxes still go to the British throne! Do your research people! I’m a Boston native and I have!

@@rebecca8525 I grew up in Boston. Specifically Dorchester. When DD first opened they had the best coffee, hands down! 👍. But now? It’s all watered down to the point that it tastes like dirty water to me 😂. Now I make my own coffee at home which is Cafe Bustello. It’s pretty good but not like the old DD!

Rewriting history like this is abhorrent. This being sold as a reenactment is disingenuous at best, and at worst is a clear obfuscation of the past and is an attempt to create a new narrative. We few will not forget.

@@KingC89 saying corporations fly rainbow flags doesn't negate my point or support yours like.. at all. Also companies only do that because most people support queer rights and the businesses want to make money so they try to tailor to most people..

They dressed in only enough Native American clothing to disguise themselves. Mostly colonial era clothing with a Native American Headdress and facepaint

@@Chewee394 lmfao wearing a native American headdress with colonial clothing does not “disguise” someone. And I didn’t see any headdresses in the video.

I like how you come to Boston and throw garbage into the harbor. They couldn’t have made boxes out of something responsible? And for the sake of argument maybe they are cardboard boxes? The clothes that were thrown in will take decades to break down. I don’t need an anniversary to Celebrate our Freedom and this Earth I do it everyday. It starts with trying to be more responsible Not dressing up once a year and acting like the noble Americans
@user-ts7ns7bt2v8 ай бұрын
Omg I’m sure they were fished out. I’m embarrassed that you are a fellow American.
@normandesmarais58798 ай бұрын
There were booms in the water to contain the spread of the tea, etc. Everything was retrieved and removed from the water after the dumping. Very few people stayed around to watch that.
@Chewee3948 ай бұрын
The organizers said they would fish out everything except the tea because tea leaves themselves are biodegradable.
