Happy to find this video in my search today. Just bought 2 gorgeous ferns home from Costco but they are so rootbound. I wanted to see someone else separate and repot them and now I have the confidence to do it, too. Thanks!

I'd like to see a picture of one after it had filled out just to make sure I didn't want to just halve, rather than quarter. Love the video though, thx for sharing. I also divide the ones I buy - they are sure getting expensive these days! Happy Gardening!!

Just bought the last Boston fern in a Home Depot sale! My poor plant is a very sorry looking one. Was so happy to find your video. Would also be interested in a followup on how you winter them in your shed. I live in Delaware. Thank you for this video!

Wow, life keeps getting in the away to the time available. I am sorry that it has taken so long to respond to your comment, please forgive my rudeness. Living in Delaware I am not so sure that you could winterize them like we can here in Texas, and when I can find the pictures of the winterization process I think you might want to find a root cellar for winter's chills! Be blessed to be a blessing my friend!

Life got into the way of getting pictures before winter, however, I can tell you that it only took about 2 months for frawns to begin to emerge from the bottom and sides. I will post pictures in the spring as they are wintering over in our shed and you will be amazed at how pretty they turned out.

+PastorCammy Walters I am going to try this.. Thank you for sharing! How do you winterize them in the shed? Would love to know?

+PastorCammy Walters I've never replied to a KZbin video so I hope this works... My boyfriend bought me a Boston Fern (approx. half the size that you started with in this video) about a month ago and I transplanted it right away to a 14" pot like the one you're using in this video. My question is; if I didn't divide it before replanting, is it safe to do so now or should I wait around 6 months and do so in the fall?
@pastorcammywalters97748 жыл бұрын
Carol, it will be fine to divide it now or later, just know that the later in the season that you divide it up, the long it might take to recover and grow.

Dawn, I will be getting my pictures together in the next few days of how they were over wintered in our shed

PastorCammy Walters Thank you for your response. I plan buying another hanging pot in the next few days and will divide it soon. Thanks again...

I'm from south Texas and i have a fern outside.Its seems to like shade better than sunlight I'm guessing cause the temp here is so hot it dries out .any tips?
@pastorcammywalters97748 жыл бұрын
Typically, ferns like muted or mottled light, and in Texas heat needs to be watered DAILY. We keep ours on the front porch back under the eve's.
@lisa812418 жыл бұрын
PastorCammy Walters I've see some people have them under the porch in the ground and they grow so huge and beautiful 😀

So basically, these are strictly outside ferns because there is no drip pan if you were to bring inside, like in the winter.

How much do you water it and when? I've had one for a year but it always seems to be struggling. I noticed that the leaves that touch the ceiling die first so I moved it further down a bit to give it more room. I'm thinking about repotting it to give the roots more room.
@pastorcammywalters97748 жыл бұрын
I have found that these guys really like a good daily watering or at least a daily heavy mist. I never had much trouble with them touching anything creating a problem, however sometimes dividing and repotting helps rejuvenate them.

Ferns are actually realiively cheap so that plant was very nice and healthy ..why risk it I know folks do this all the time with some good results and they like the challenge but if I want another one I'll just get another one I don't want to risk the life of one to make four I find it interesting that there is no footage of the slaughter smh
