Okay, I need something settled concerning this song. There's a short low run of a thing in Foreplay that starts at about 59 seconds. For the last 47 years, I have wholeheartedly believed that in the original recording, this run is done on a piano, or at least a keyboard with a piano sound. But I am constantly seeing bands cover this song and they invariably use a bass to do this line. So.... is that little run at 0:59 played on a piano or on a bass guitar? I say it's a piano. And I am talking about this original recording. The real kicker about this is that I saw Boston live at the Gorge at George, Washington back in the mid 90's (Best concert EVER!!!). I was so into the show that I never even bothered to watch and see how they did it. What y'all think?

A lot of songs are like this. It might’ve had to do with the record co. dictating standards for airplay, where phase-outs are very common. But I agree, the whole piece should’ve been included on the track.
