My family and I were there on Governors Island that night to listen to that wonderful music! We had the privilege of living there for 12 years. We were late in arriving for the rehearsal show the night before the 4th of July and were hurrying to our seats when suddenly a man grabbed my arm and told me I had to wait right there because he was about to conduct the orchestra! It was then that I realised that John Williams was holding my arm!😲 He then asked me if I knew where my seat was. I said I sure do and he replied... I'll let you get to it really quickly! Go right now! They're waiting for me to start! I thanked him and almost ran to my seat. He gave a nod in my direction, picked up his baton and began to conduct Liberty Fanfare! I will never forgot that night...😊

I attended the performance the following night July 4, 1986, held in Liberty State Park. We also happened to be walking in as this music began to start and the colors were raised. Awesome concert, wonderful memories. kzbin.info/www/bejne/goDQcqN4bNZgfMk

I seriously remember when I first listened to this music in my music class ever since I was in the 5th grade! Before we were gonna listen to this music, my music teacher would tell all of us about John Williams, and how he was the only legendary composer alive in the 20th/21st century, and she also said that he conducted music for Star Wars, Jurassic Park, and E.T. It was really such a wonderful experience. ❤️

I’d just say - what about Ennio Morricone or Hans Zimmer? And many others? John Williams is great, but I dont agree with your teacher
@rr7firefly5 жыл бұрын
Well, I am here to prop up your comment, defending it against the other replies to your comments. John Williams really stands apart for his ability to bring a whole extra dimension to every movie score commissioned by Spielberg. The 600 pound gorilla is "Schindler's List" -- I don't know if anyone else could have brought the poignancy of that movie into being. And one of my favorites is the final 10 minutes of the movie "Always." Not a great movie but that ending, very Hollywood but fantastically so.

The only comment that I think is right is the last one which is not me but I agree that John Williams is really creative and I like that he made music for movies so yeah and all the other comments are wrong no offense :3

@@soso-zz9qf This is the craziest comment on music I have read. He has been nominated for an Academy Award over 50 times! I mean even Walt Disney is just 7 more than John Williams! He is arguably the top of composers in his lifetime. And really, at the time this guy's teacher said that, many other composers may not have really been around that much yet. After all, John Williams was ahead of his time, and changed the face of movie music!

In my world, this piece would accompany the Flight of Liberty, which is a Vekoma STC wrapping around a replica of the Statue of Liberty. It would play throughout the queue and the station, which would be themed after the immigration area on Ellis Island.

I am not a fan of Keith Lockhart's conducting style, but must admit that this is a superlative rendition.
@mydogskips25 жыл бұрын
I know the "credits" for the video say Keith Lockhart, but the auto-generated content is often incorrect, to me this does not sound like Lockhart at all, much more John Williams. I think the uploader added "John Williams and the Boston Pops Orchestra " in the video's description which is likely correct.
