Living in the time when this album came out.. living it when it happened... I can’t even explain how wonderfully magical it truly was. This song has a magical power that can transform me to being 12 years old.. that time when everything is changing.. no longer a child but not an adult. Boston’s album was the soundtrack of my life at that time.. my sister and I listened to it EVERY DAY.. many times a day... I loved it then and I love it now.. it will never be out of date or not relevant to me.

Growing up in the New England area, I knew Brad and Tom (Brad lived just a few towns over from me). I still can't stop shedding a tear when I hear this album...A lot of folks don't know that Tom played every instrument on this album (except the drums). Extremely talented. Brad Delp has a range in his voice that very few guys have. Powerful, pure voice, I was devastated when I heard from a friend he was gone.

I was a kid in the 70s and a teenager in the 80s, man I'm telling you it was the best time to be that age. High school , girls, cars and rock concerts.and real friends.....we had it all. Even back then we felt the same about these songs as we all do now. Listening now, these songs bring back memories forgotten both good and bad, friends that are no longer here...but I wouldn't change it for the world. These songs shaped who we are today, and those of you in your 50s, you know exactly what I mean. If we could go back I know you would drop what your doing and get on that bus. Brad Delp's voice in this song is just perfect. The way he climbs with his voice to the high notes. What makes it so special is no matter how high his voice gets the intensity stays the same. The power behind each note is just as much as the one before. This song is a piece of art. There just is no better way to describe this. It's musical art at its best! When you look at Brad's face as he sings you can see he is genuinely having a good time with it. He has mentioned in interviews that he always dredded having to sing it live because it was musically very difficult for him to do, hitting those high notes and then carry on with a full show. Or vice versa, be singing the whole night and then try to hit those notes near the latter part of a show, but when they hired the female in the band she picked up the high part for him. He said he would just point if he needed the boost and she would provide it. But he said he always sang it because he knew it was a fan favorite. Some days it was just better than others. I get that. No one has a studio voice 24/7/365. At least not anyone with Brad's voice. RIP - Brad, you were definitely something special.

I was working at a gas station, I was 17 in 1976, when this album came out. From the first second you heard it, you were completely hooked, the guitars sounded so ferocious for am radio, the thing was mixed so great, the tunes so perfectly crafted. They were truly instantly famous because the music was so strong.

I came up with a theory that I feel could explain why music can seemingly teleport you back in time ; Songs that moved you strongly in a given time in your life become associated in your memory with virtually everything that was happening to you at that time whether you realize it or not. It is all stored there within your brain, in areas of your brain responsible for storing different types of sensory input as well as emotional input. Sound, smells, sights, emotional state, where you were in space at that time, sometimes even the politics of the time to name but a few of hundreds of things that are stored in different neural pathways and destinations within your brain. I believe that the sound of a song that once stirred you deeply somehow generates a neural pulse or removes a filter which normally separates all of those memory fragments; resulting in the immediate synthesis of all those old disparate snatches of memory gathered from different areas of your brain. This process brings all of experiences connected with the song directly into your consciousness giving the sensation of being in the past. Put another way, it is the involuntary simultaneous awareness of all of the sensory input and memories from different places in your brain that give you the feeling of actually being there, because in a sense you really ARE since you ARE your brain. And for a while your brain is aware of and experiencing nearly all of the things you were feeling when that song was popular. Speaking strictly for myself, when I begin to hear an oldie from decades gone by, I actually experience a sort of Gestalt burst that seems to convey the complete milieu of my being at that time. It is a fleeting feeling but it is very very strong and real. Music is Magic. Because it IS Magic.Throughout all of history every society has had music. In fact I'm certain music predates society because the rhythm of drums and chants a campfire began very very early at a tribal level

Wow, where do I even start with "More Than a Feeling" by Boston? This song is an absolute classic that has stood the test of time, and every time I hear it, it takes me right back. The opening acoustic guitar riff instantly grabs your attention and pulls you into the song. It's like the perfect blend of mellow and powerful, transitioning smoothly into those electrifying guitar-driven verses and that unforgettable chorus. Brad Delp's vocals are just incredible. His range and emotion in this song are off the charts. You can really feel the longing and nostalgia in his voice, especially when he sings about hearing that favorite song and being transported back in time. It's such a relatable feeling, and the lyrics, though simple, hit you right in the feels. The production quality is top-notch, which is amazing considering much of it was recorded in Tom Scholz's basement studio. The layered guitars and harmonic vocals are so well-balanced, creating a rich, full sound that just envelops you. I love the dynamic shifts from the gentle acoustic intro to the powerful electric sections-it keeps you hooked from start to finish. I have to say, "More Than a Feeling" has had such a huge impact on rock music. It's influenced so many bands and musicians over the years. Despite being released in 1976, it still feels fresh and relevant. It's a staple on classic rock radio and for good reason-it's a masterpiece of melody, harmony, and rock energy. Sure, some might say it sticks to the classic rock formula a bit too closely, and maybe it doesn't break new ground. But honestly, who cares when the formula works this well? The polished production might be a bit too clean for fans of rawer rock, but for me, it just adds to the song's perfection. Overall, "More Than a Feeling" is a timeless gem. Every time I listen to it, I'm reminded why I fell in love with rock music in the first place. Tom Scholz's genius production and Boston's musical prowess make this song a standout that will be cherished for generations to come.
