I have a question for ya.....long time RC guy here (planes cars helis)......Normal driving around a oval in the yard...no crazy stuff....and I sheared the dogbone pin off a Rovan (joint was well lubed inside boot) In 1 and a half gallons ......no crazy jumps or abuse just grinding a oval around in the front yard. No parts breaking crashes or anything.....just flat tracking a ovall for the most part....Are the Rovan dogbones crap?.....pin sheared off at the diff housing.....

BOTAJELL .... I found something cool with my Max 5t . take off in a straight line with good throttle , turn left or right and hit the brake while keeping it left or right. The car will skid around 90 degrees. I found that the max doesn't like to turn while holding the throttle half or more but that I need to release the throttle and it will turn.

Hey Botajell, I missed the days when I was younger/beginner and bought a Tamiya and got to build the car from scratch, I wish that option was still available for most cars, it takes part of the fun out of it!

That’s why I highly recommend you get a Roller version then you can either just install the electronics and engine and pipe of your choice or do what I do like I did to my King Motor X2 I have a full build series of it and I strip it down and rebuild and use the oils and parts I want to use plus engine and exhaust. I remember them days brotha with the Tamiyas that’s how I started out in the 80’s

Just got my first 5th scale i got my self a rovan Baja 5b it has the 27.5 motor and runs great working on sorting out what needs upgraded as we speak I'm running 93 octane with klotz techniplate 2 stroke have to say for a smaller engine this thing rips it also has a cheap stinger style pipe on it seems to really help it open up

Yes there fun as hell I love them little screamers . If you install a DarkSoul lightened flywheel and a 990 carburetor with a good aluminum intake on it and a velocity air stack and new Airfilter it will rip ass ! And if you install a 9,500 rpm clutch spring it will be even more fun. My brother in-law Danny has this and it’s bad ass super fun . We run Cam-2 ethanol free 100 octane and we use AMSOIL Dominator racing 2 stroke oil always. He uses stock clutch and spring on his but if you change yours it will feel better

I was shocked 😳 how well it ran also . I wished I would have had loctite and torqued down my exhaust bolts after I broke in my engine! I would have had stayed out there longer and I would also have had more power. Who knows how long I had that exhaust leak for ? It still did very well and no overheating at all !

What fuel mixture are you using? Just the recommended 25:1? That's what I've been running, but I've heard some chatter about 50:1 and just am not sure. My doesn't wheelie like this (probably has a lot to do with tuning, as I don't know a ton about it yet)

John 🤙 Another great informative video on setting the end points on the servos and great running video 👍. It has lots of power for being stock. I wish you would of explained more when you were tuning the carb, does it have a low speed and high speed needle carb. When does someone really know when it’s tuned properly? Is there really a “set in stone” 100% tune? Sorry for the questions from a Novice ( me ) I don’t like the word “newbie” that other RC owners use and they use that term in a demeaning way, that’s my opinion on that. I just tune by ear 👂 and how it looks 👀 no more no less . If it sounds good and looks good ? It’s good! I did not have to tune much on this . I probably did 1/8 lean on the low speed and about a 1/2 turn on the high speed needle

That’s exactly what I said ! Who knows how long it was loose for ?? I usually loctite and torque down my exhaust bolts durn my engine break in process after a few heat cycles but I just ran it and ran it . It drank up 1 gallon of cam 2 and dominator oil off the ground then I did the end points and came here to this place

In the past with my nitro's I did the chassis, shocks, engine mounts, shocks, and bumps. Now with these 5th scales I was curious if there was more I may be missing. Do you do the pipe, carb, pull start cover, etc... Any help would be greatly appreciated.

John sorry to bother you again what do you use to grease the gearing inside the servo I run in to a locked up solid throttle servo on my baja the motor locked up with rust lol its been taken in water but I soaked it in wd40 5mins and it's sorted but I'm not sure if this green lithium grease will be okay for the gearing or maybe a bit heavy for it can you give me a little advice on this please just to be on the safe side john :-D

Will fpv I rarely sleep well at night it’s 11:15 pm right now and I still have a ton of emails to go threw . It’s impossible to get to everyone but I’m doing my best. Sure you can use a little bit of your grease . Another grease I highly recommend and you can even fill it up no problems at all and water proof it is Dielectric grease ! Zeeeeeaah 😜💥💥! I wish someday and I want to eat some food 🥘 from there I forgot the name of it but it’s banned in the USA it’s not allowed here to make it because there’s to many pussies here now . I definitely had fun with this Baja max T No ?’s but I actually had more fun so far with the primal monster truck. I have lost count how many times I have jumped that beast . I can’t wait to bring it upstate ny to our weekend home and do a few things with it

so serious question , have the rovans quality improved over the years ? all I have ever owned have been FG, MCD , HPI and losi and never had issues out of them just normal stuff . had a smart-tech monster truck that was garbage . the HPI Baja and 5T were freaking bullet proof . I want to get back into 1/5 and have a rovan model picked out just don't want to waste money on something that cant handle bashing I mainly run on a beach with sand paddles , and yes I know its hard on RCs lol so whatever I get has to be able to hold up to sand.

Hells yes the new ROVANs are great 👍 I shit you not! To be honest I have many of them now and like them better then my past HPI’s . Some of the ROVANS will even come with some upgrades bone stock out the box and bigger engines that are Not bad at all. I have my own Futaba remote I use but for someone getting into the hobby for the first time most of the ROVANs even come with very good FlySky remotes that’s better then the crap the other named brands give people on top of there over priced RCs and since ROVANs are also affordable you can always upgrade or build to your satisfaction. Most people like to run there own engines and electronics they like to run anyways.

This thing is fun bro !! Nothing broke but I forgot to torque down and loctite the exhaust bolts so they came off and I damaged the exhaust gasket. I will have an update soon on this Baja Max T and I have some great news for it . There is a all new pipe and header especially made just for the rovan Baja with 45cc engines 👍💥

Botajell.....My Max 5T ...I removed my diff and found mostly no oil in it and the washer under (under pin ) the two larger gears were placed one flat side down other flat side up. If I were you I’d check it before any more runs.

Ringo Gingo I would do anything from 10,000 to 50,000 on this off road Max T. And 100,000 for drag racing on street .

BOTAJELL I just checked my EPAs and I had to put my throttle down to 1% , braking wasn’t so bad like 80% maby but I will I need to adjust my linkage still or will it be ok now ? Would not having this throttle EPA set be the reason why when I was slowing the car down it wasn’t wanting to goto idle unless I pulled the brake trigger back then it would goto idle speed, haven’t tried since adjusting but hope that’s it fixed Can’t wait to get brapping again, I see Bartolone has a 40cc reed valve big bore now , choice between the bartolone 40, alx40malossi and rcmax 40GT now 😁😁😁
