The Botanical Gardens (Jardín Botánico) are in Puerto de la Cruz, in the north of Tenerife. It was built and opened in the late 18th Century on the orders of King Charles III of Spain. Today, it covers over 20,000m2 of pure beauty.
Its official name is the La Orotava Climatisation Garden (Jardín de Aclimatación de La Orotava) as what is now Puerto de la Cruz used to be part of the La Orotava municipality. Due to the confusion that this name might cause, it is commonly known as El Botánico or Jardín Botánico.
