Rohan's exuberance while talking about books is so relatable; when you are that passionate about books, cinema etc, you just can't help but look coked out of your mind when asked about them.

I hope you gals do really well :) Just a small thing I noticed that Stephen King is being mispronounced as 'Stefen' when its actually 'Steven'..apart from that more power to you! :) xx

Hi, just wanted to say this about ASoIaF: I think it was completely intentional on GRRM's part to slow things down after A Storm of Swords (ASoS). ASoS is the culmination of events in AGoT and ACoK, and A Feast for Crows then deals with the aftermath of war, and starts laying the groundwork for events to come. You can even see it in the titles of the two books: A Storm of Swords (i.e., war and conflict and so on) and A Feast for Crows (the aftermath - the ravages, including death, of war). I actually appreciate GRRM's vision for the series a lot more simply because he took the risk of slowing things down after ASoS to describe the effects and aftermath of war, and that, in my mind, elevated ASoIaF from another fantasy series to something that transcended genres. Plus, we wouldn't have the The Broken Man speech without AFfC. :)
@BooksonToast
@BooksonToast 7 жыл бұрын
Fair. And we've discussed that in the episode with Vivek (somehow we always end up discussing ASoIF :D) about how when a writer like GRRM builds a world like that, he has the right to discover/ immerse the reader in it any way he pleases.

Nooo! A person who doesn't like Ready Player One?! I must defend its honour! The references have a point because it shows what a self-obsessed guy the creator of the video game was. Moreover, there were so many details of this tech crazy world that get lost because there's a bigger picture. I know a lot of people who discover the gems after rereading the book. Of course, I would suggest checking out some of those 80s references because hot damn. I legit picked up story ideas through them. Also, you girls are creating such great content here. LOVE IT. Re: the Game of Thrones conversation. I'm afraid of the hype and have NEVER read or watched it despite owning the books. What would you suggest picking up- the books or the show?

Hi Asiya thanks for your lovely comment. This is what we are looking for , interesting and diverse POVs. Well done on defending RPO. About ASOIAF, I would start with the books and don't rely on the overwhelming hype. It's a fab series to have come out during our time and it won't let you down. :-)

I have never read Ready Player One, will look into it. Regarding ASOIF you can go either way it doesn't matter much because the first 4 seasons are amazing!! Things went a little downhill in 5th but it was great, 6th and 7th felt like blatant fan service. But starting the books early is great but you would have to wait a lot for the next ones; having said that I would personally recommend completing the books before season 8 hits the screen or watching till 4 and then starting the books. Also reading the books after watching the tv show, does not have much impact on it, I was a bit worried about that.

Hi guys. Maybe you should do all episodes in two parts henceforth. There is so much more you cover in one long episode. 😂 one thing I feel though, the episode maybe unintentionally, was biased towards fantasy based storylines. i would have loved to listen to a discussion on more real world plots like Big Little Lies. And no matter what you say, I LOVE the show.
