The mounted Troopers change hourly between the start of duty at 10 am and last duty at 4 pm . The two Troopers on foot change every 2 hours , they stay on duty until 6 pm in summer months .

The two regiments Lifeguards in red uniforms Blues and Royals in dark blue uniforms alternate duties at Horse Guards changing every 2 days so the same horses and Troopers aren't on duty every day , they return to Hyde Park Barracks inbetween duties .
