Ok to answer your question, there is no solid estimate but a rough estimate of copper used in the Porsche tiger is somewhere from 440-1100 pounds of copper (200-500 KG)

For what little it is worth, to my understanding the Krupp alloys used for the armor of a Tiger contained between 0.32% and 0.51% copper to protect against corrosion. I can't find exact numbers for the weight of a Tiger (P)'s armor but with most other Tigers it seems to clock in around half the total weight, so ~30t. That gives us about 124.5kg of copper in the armor alone. Add to that broadly 2km of copper wire for all the internals at average alloy density and thickness and you'd get probably (or rather, _maybe)_ a total around 130-135kg of copper used in armor and wiring. Someone greater than me can figure out the amount of copper in the engine, suspension, transmission and the turret traverse and such.

Well I talked to somebody that's very familiar with electric motors, he's an electrical engineer, and he estimated that the total copper amount would be around 950 for the electrical motor and all that. So add on the amount of copper in the armor and in the wiring and yeah you're coming up around 11 to 1200lb

My two days of grocery shopping before Christmas Eve were actually chill, including the traffic. I could not find fresh or frozen cranberries, but I was able to get 18 pounds worth of meats at the butcher's and got everything else I needed at 4 other stores.

Ok, so, drunk me watching this video at 2am (hi sober me) and calculating the copper content in a Tiger P came up with this estimate: Electric motors: 200-500kg (440-1100lbs) per motor, so 400-100kg (880-2200lbs) wires: 100-200kg (220-440lbs) all the other potential stuff: 50-100kg (110-220lbs) This would bring the total up to 550-1300kg (1210-2860lbs) or 4000-13000 USD per tank

I don't know where people are finding actual numbers for the porsche tiger steel as all i found was that while there was potentially copper in it at time, krupp steel was mostly low carbon steel with high amounts of added chromium.

That was cruel of Jim to specify that the challenge is for the copper in the HULL. So the turret & its contents cannot be counted, no accessories can be counted nor the tracks. This also opens up the debate about whether he wanted the just the hull or if everything contained within the hull can also be counted. Not to mention the crew,...does the copper in or on their person count since they are only intermittently in the hull. 😜
