@7:47, the old plate system was flat armor, they made changes since that when there are less plates towers have more armor to counter lane swapping and jungle funneling, plus they probably used rift or something to help out... i dont remember when rift spawned back then.

After rewatching I think it's because oner did try to get inside before tier 1 fall. At 9:15 you can see oner channeling a few frames before turret fall. Then he drove it to tier 2. Patchnote says: "The Rift Herald receives 1 use of Charge when summoned which is consumed as soon as a player hops onto Herald (or when Herald automatically Charges a tower unpiloted). In the event a nearby enemy tower or inhibitor is destroyed, Herald will receive an additional Charge." So worked as intended maybe?

We saw this iteration of T1 the very first time in KesPA when the plates very first iteration came out. They took all 6 Tier 1 & Tier 2 Towers under 15 minutes. I thought T1 were psychos for not playing that same iteration of T1 in the regular split then got flamed by a bunch of Canna fanboys even though the guy's been inconsistent af... they needed something new and watching this iteration in that KesPA was a breath of fresh air, too bad it took almost 2 years before we even got to see this iteration again.
