Still love to see digs like this makes it all real , I had a great dig a few weeks back with 5 ginger beers and a old cylinder , best dig ever , then the next was loads of jam pots literally 2 foot from the gbs , the day was saved by a lid , well trying to motivate my self to go in the morning 👍🏻keep up the good work , Dave

Hi Shane, shame it was so ungiving, the ink is nice, the Codd also. At the end of the video you showed us some bottles a friend of yours gifted to you, the Cucumbers reminded me of a pub I used to go in a long time ago, we got permission to dig a rockery that was in the garden, prior to this, the landlord gave me a stoneware Porter, it has got a lovely rope style seal on it with the inscription "LONDON STOUT FROM R.J.. BOYALL GRANTHAM". While digging the rockery, we were getting 8 sided "W UNSWORTH GROVE STREET RETFORD" Cucumbers, sadly they were all broke. The only thing to come out whole was a stoneware Teakettle Ink, on the front is "MORRELL LONDON" with a Diamond Registration Mark on the rear, It just goes to show that you dont get a haul everytime you go out, Im sure that, as I am, people who watch digging videos, like to see videos where you get very little, we can all relate to that. It has got to be 35 years since I last went digging, I too have a bad back, also cervical spondylosis between my shoulders & in my neck so, at 72 I dont think I will be getting out soon. I had most of my bottles in boxs in the shed, I thought the digging hobby had gone dry until I saw a group on facebook, then another & another till I think I joined about 8 groups, then saw you & Tom on KZbin, The rest as they say is History. Anyway, better luck on the next dig, take care & stay safe.

Cheers Alan, it sounds like you’ve had many a happy day digging! That Porter sounds lovely and I’m familiar with the unsworth bottles! Have you seen the ones with the bulb in the neck? Very nice bottles👍

It’s a good friend to give you them early bottles. The cylinders are superb. A tumble would bring them up great. 👍

Great video shaney thanks! Great to see you out. When we used to dig a local dump in the 80’s we used to find still burning ashes! Dumps can be like pit heaps, and the unburned coal can smoulder away for decades. There’s very little oxygen but the ashes contain unburned energy and in these dumps there was a LOT of hot ashes put into the old metal dustbins. That’s why you’re seeing the ground burning. I guess you knew that before but there you go. Great to see you out again!👍🍾

Cheers mate, another video I wasn’t going to put up due to lack of finds! I never knew about the smouldering ashes I’ve never seen that before

Good to see you out and about again, Shane. I totally sympathise with your backache...mine's been playing up a lot as well...too much bottle digging ! Love the old local porters that your friend gave you...guessing they're difficult to find out on the tips ? All the best to you, Tom & the lads......Damian 😊
@diggershane92362 жыл бұрын
Cheers Damian, you need an early tip to dig those kind of items maybe 40 years prior to the tip we’re on at the minute.

I remember when I was younger I used to have a magazine for teenagers, sometimes they used to come with records but not like the records you buy in the shops they were a thin piece of plastic, it was a record but it was a piece of plastic. Could it possibly be one of those just might be . brilliant YT thanks. You should have a long hot bath that might help. take care Debbie not Dave xxx
