It aggravates me a bit that people suggest there is a certain way to drink bourbon/whisky/spirits. The best way is to just drink and enjoy responsibly. Period. That’s why I like this channel. No pretentiousness and no “expert” opinions. Just good people enjoying good drinks and showing people what’s out there and what opinions they have. Evan Williams BiB is amazingly good for the price. I think the best mixer for the money out there, however drinking neat I think Wild Turkey 101 is better value.

Just goes to show you it's about regional prices. Here, EW is $15 and WT is $22. Russell's 10 is $21 and I'd take it all day over the other 2. I do have handles of EW and WT stocked though.

Ive almost bottle killed my WT BIB. I get notes on the palette of a buttercream iced vanilla cake every time. Hence the reason I keep going back for more pours. Great series. Blinds are the wave of the future in bourbon tastings IMO, the removal of any bias for what sticker is on the label appeals to me. Keep up the channel. Thanks for all you do

Your top two this round are two of my tops for BIBs for sure! Good choices. Hard choices, but good ones! One little suggestion? Now that you're including the bottle at the end, might you consider putting them in the order that they showed vice the letter on the glass? This round ended with it looking like 1792 was in last place, when it was in third. Make sense? Just a thought/suggestion. Question - where can we find some of those great glasses? Michelle? LOL! I can’t find Henry McKenna bottled in bond 10 (ha surprise) but I did pick up a bottle of Wilderness Trail bottled in bond. I would have never tried it had it not been for this channel and boy am I glad I did. It’s delicious. Thanks for the video. Watching round 4 now.

Good video, and very fair position on clearing you palate....you aren't doing brain surgery after all. This is supposed to be fun. There is no "right" answer, because palates and preferences can vary. However, as I'm sure you're aware, your palate is influenced by what comes before. As long as the options are fairly similar, this is less important. But, if you have an outlier, then when you experience that outlier can have a big impact on your impressions. It's like when your near a dairy or feedlot, and you're initially overwhelmed with the smell of manure. But, after a while, you don't sense it as much (nose blindness). I was shocked when I tried a high proof bourbon (like an Elijah Craig barrel proof), and then switched to my Whistle Pig 10 year rye. Normally, I love the complexity of the WP 10, it's one of my favorites. But, the ECBP loaded up, or overwhelmed my taste buds with the caramel, brown sugar notes, so when I tasted the WP 10 it had lost the subtlety of those notes, and instead I got HUGE dill notes. I felt like I was eating a dill pickle or chewing on fresh dill. Not good. The "It's bourbon night" folks will often try their flight fights in reverse order after a break. As far as the water, I know what you're talking about as far as washing it out, and so it takes a few more sips to get the water off your taste buds. Anyway, this was a longwinded, nerdy way of saying "Keep up the good work!"

couple things: 1st - re: the beginning part of the video, its funny how on the internet everyone has an opinion-which 100% CORRECT always and its coupled with a compulsion to tell you/anyone why you are WRONGWRONGWRONG!!! yeesh. You do you. Youre uploading videos of you guys enjoying bourbon!! Get a grip people! This is freaking fun! 2nd - after the winner from next 4 Id say its would feel more anticlimactic if the 4 champs were all in 1 round. These are all winners so it would be tough to force 2 out immediately just to focus on the other 2. What do you think about a pair of head to heads? So winner 1 & winner 2 go head to head, you and Trenton really take your time and focus on them. Same with 3 and 4. This sets up an epic battle between the last 2...the one downside is if you remember the winners from 1st 4 rounds youd know who is in the final. Maybe Michelle doesnt reveal who was eliminated until the final

Let me just say I very much appreciate your guys tolerance...about the time someone told me how I should be tasting or not to share my glass.....I'd probably just block them. Why can't people just enjoy the content in lieu of trying to chime in about things that should be of no concern to them ? This comes from a person who is a huge food sharer, they would lose their mind if they saw my GF & I eat a meal. I'll never understand....maybe they should start their own channel ? Love the 1792 bib LOVE the McKenna 10 year Never had the Wilderness Trail, so the lesson here is pretty straight forward - I'm looking for Wilderness Trail. Heard many positive things about it, but never pulled the trigger so guess it's time. Love the blinds Don't let Trenton talk you into moving your picks though. Pretty sure that you wanted to give it to the McKenna tonight. Honest and fair as always

The only two I've had from this round are Henry McKenna and Evan Williams. Personally I'm not a fan of Henry McKenna, but I usually have an Evan Williams BIB on hand. It's good for the money but I have to be in the right mind set to choose and enjoy it. I'd love to be able to try the other two sometime.

I have no problem with sharing the glass. However having separate glasses speeds up the video and lets it flow better. Also I like showing the bottles at the end to make it clear what the order was. Sometimes I have to listen very carefully to see what bottle was in what position.

2:20 For *me* , a can of cold Coke is the best palate cleanser. I've tried water and I've tried crackers and they just don't do it for me. 5:35 I find Evan Williams BiB is nutty on the nose - except it's peanut *shells* , not the nuts themselves. 🙂 I like it, however, though not as much as Old Grand-Dad bonded, or non-BiB 100 proof bourbons like Knob Creek 9 or Old Forester 100. 14:40 I've found that my palate does change. I'll take a sip of something I've been drinking for a while, and there's a new note that I'd never gotten before, and which is in that whisky from then on. 🙂

Drinking neat, I would never go with EW. Love it as my main mixer or when someone wants a whiskey and (insert soda name here). It's a solid bourbon at the price point, but I'd be hard pressed to pick it out in a blind tasting as the best to drink neat.

EW BIB is the only BIB I have, hence this request for the blind tastings of BIBs I think the EW is decent, I just know there are others out there better. I can't wait for Round 4 and the final. Super late to the party....I'm having the same problem with COLD water. However, room temperature water swirled in my mouth and then discarded and I get a full pallet reset. I struggle with more than 3-4 similar spirits no matter what.

I never thought the sharing glasses was that weird since the high alcohol content would kill germs. I just find having people talking about stuff and not on camera to be the weird part.

@@slbdrinks I did pick up a bottle of the yellow label wheater. For fun I compared it against 1792 BIB Single Barrel. I really like the 1792, but it does have a sweeter banana nose and lighter palette. The Wilderness Trail is richer and I do pick up on that coffee note. These glasses were a gift from my daughter for Father’s Day. They are already engraved A-D which is cool. They are not a true glencairn glass but like a mini whiskey glass.

Not much so far. Possibly a bit harder to get a good nose out of the glass but very minor.

Haven’t considered that truthfully. I have only had the HH for a short period of time so more to discover with that bottle.
