Sakineh's life was a testament to resilience in the face of adversity. As a nomadic woman living with her children in a rented home, she faced daily struggles that weighed heavily on her heart. Despite these challenges, she never allowed herself to be defeated; her spirit remained unbroken. This episode captures a particularly poignant moment in her life, highlighting the emotional turmoil she experienced, especially concerning her son Ibrahim.
One day, Sakineh found herself overcome with sadness, her thoughts drifting to Ibrahim, and she wept quietly in their humble abode. Her tears were interrupted by the sudden entrance of Wazan, a woman who claimed, "Why did you go and destroy my magic?" Confused, Sakineh replied, "I don't know you." Wazan revealed herself to be Mohammad Reza's mother, accusing Sakineh of practicing magic, a claim she vehemently denied. The confrontation escalated as Wazan expressed her disdain for another woman named Narges, while Sakineh defended Narges, asserting she was a good person.
The tension between them grew, and in a moment of desperation, Sakineh considered calling the police for help, only to find her phone had no signal. As Wazan stormed out, Sakineh finally managed to call the authorities, describing the disturbance. However, the police were unable to assist, further deepening her feeling of isolation.
Amid this chaos, her son Mehdi burst into the house with urgency. He informed Sakineh that a woman in the mountains was about to give birth and needed her help. "Take her to the hospital," Sakineh urged, but Mehdi insisted, "She's not going to the hospital." Recognizing the importance of their nomadic community's support, Sakineh reluctantly prepared to assist.
Upon reaching the woman in labor, Sakineh discovered she recognized her from a recent ultrasound visit. As the labor progressed, Sakineh instinctively stepped in to help, drawing on her own experiences as a mother. After a tense period, the baby-a boy-was born, and despite the joy of new life, Sakineh felt a wave of sorrow wash over her, likely a reflection of her own struggles and the burden she carried for Ibrahim.
In a moment of emotional conflict, she resolved not to cry openly, instead finding solace in the act of helping. "I'll take her to the maid's house," Sakineh decided, focusing on the needs of the newborn and his mother.
As they returned home, Mehdi’s excitement brought a flicker of happiness back into Sakineh’s heart, reminding her that amidst the hardships, moments of joy and purpose still existed in their lives.
