52.48 "The JR Hartley" joke on the phone is in reference to a well-known advert at the time for the Yellow Pages aka the phone book. Back before the internet, we had a giant block of contact numbers and business details. The advert followed an old man going from book shop to book shop searching for a book called "Fly Fishing". In the end, he got out the yellow pages and rang around to find a copy. He reserves the only copy under the name "JR Hartley" revealing he wasn't interested in learning how to fly fish, he was in fact the author. Hence Eddie saying, "Delighted to send a signed copy...and a test tube of my love juice!"

I learned recently that Rik and Ade learnt their lines by doing, "The Italian Run" where they spoke the entire script from start to finish as fast as possible and if one got it wrong they had to start again until they got it right. That was from an interview with Paul Jackson on the KZbin channel "Talking Bottom". A remarkable and revealing interview giving insight to behind the scenes of the early days with The Young Ones and working with Rik and Ade. Highly recommended listen. Apparently, the Italian run isn't the done thing anymore. It sounds like a bloody good idea to me.

That is absolutely incredible! And pure dedication! “If you fuck up you have to start again!” I guess at that point you have no choice but to learn it! At drama college my biggest fear was learning lines! I never fucked, but was always terrified I would on the day of the play!

To answer your question at 6:30, I believe this live show premiered on the 27th December 1993 while the first attack on the World Trade Center was 26th February 1993, a full 10 months 1 day later. (By the way I've been subbed for a while now and loved your Bottom reactions, only just making my first comment now. No I'm not a commie, KZbin just wouldn't let me change my name, but anyway, look forward to even more Bottom content to come!).
