Thanks for reacting to a great comedy series. They certainly are a pair lol! Not sure what reference you were referring to but I think it was just a football reference, not sure it had anything to do with a joke they were running with (but I could be wrong). They have done some great stuff together. There was a series of feature length comedies throughout the 80's 90's and some of 2000's collectively known as The Comic Strip Presents. There's a really funny one called Mr Jolly Lives Next Door which may be worth checking out which stars both of them (does contain some swearing).

I can't tell you how happy I am that you've seen this. :D Rik and Ade were some of the greatest comedians Britain ever had. I saw them perform LIVE once and I'm so happy I did. It took me five years to fully recover from Rik's death in 2014 (heart attack and TOTALLY out of the blue, so it was a horrible, horrible shock).

Cup Tie Chaos to me as a Brit , I think of soccer, FA cup, the premier knockout club soccer competition, and the chaos being the hooliganism that did sometimes occur in the crowd during the 70's to 90's especially. These days modern all seater stadia and CCTV has largely eradicated the problem.

Once you have watched the bottom live shows, if you want more of Rick and Adrian. There is still "The Young Ones", "Filthy rich and cat flap" and "The Dangerous Brothers". As well as those, Rick and Adrian were also in the "Comic strip Presents" and a comedy heavy metal band called Bad News. Which I believe is another comic strip production, and they also had help making it from Brian May. Lead guitarist in the band Queen "

You watched Spinal Tap. Well Rik and Ade did a british heavy metal pastiche called "Bad News" and sequel ""More Bad News" and you have five live Bottom shows which are really funny and they can say anything unlike tv. But another Rik and Ade "Comic Strip presents...." is "Mr Jolly Lives Next Door". It's so similar to Bottom (which came later) that the characters are like the Bottom characters but younger. It's also SUPER violent LOL

Cup tie chaos is not a joke at all, a cup tie is a soccer match in a cup competition that is separate from the weekly league games. Headlines like that usually happens when bad weather forces a lot of these cup ties to be postponed. Hope that explains it well enough 👍

The Young Ones! You definitely haven't seen Brit comedy until you have been subjected to The Young Ones. It has Rik Mayall and Adrian Edmundson in it as well. It gave writers like Ben Elton a huge boost and was definitely a cornerstone of TV in the 80's. It was incredibly irreverent for its time, and is still ridiculous. I still quote the characters 35 years after I first saw it. It made an indelible impact upon me, and undoubtedly millions of others. No comedy show, in my opinion, has ever equaled it. For only having 2 seasons of 6 episodes each, it had a massive impact on comedy and TV in general.
