This is so crazy, my husband and I also saw this house online and had considered making an offer on it, but ultimately decided it was too much work for two first time home buyers with no renovation/restoration experience. Do not be ashamed of the house you brought. I have a friend, husband and wife that brought a house in Far Rockaway and had to gutted it out and start new. Now their house is beautiful and so will your be. The good thing is you both can do the repairs and don't have to pay someone for that. Take one room at a time and don't wear yourselves out. i love that you "see" it finished right from the start. we did this with a house a bit bigger than yours (started in our early to mid 40's) and i could "see" that one finished. there are so many who just don't have that vision, it's truly a gift :) ours was either built in 1898 or 1902 and it's way in the south but looked a lot like yours! it was built by a confederate general in madison, florida. can't wait to see your progress :) and you two are such an adorable couple!!

I am so thrilled that we can see and hear from y'all again. I know the trip up there was even more than “ROUGH" as we watched it “afterward”. Your house does have great potential. I love all the big windows (thankful for y'all that they are new), original doors, and character that can be seen even in the condition of them at the present. Y'all are a very hard-working and positive family that loves each other and has great determination in what you “set out to do”. That house has really good bones! The width of the stairwell, the height of the ceilings, the size of the rooms, the layout etc. Everything else is fixable. For me, it would make more sense for what your calling the “bonus” room to be the kitchen and what your calling the kitchen to be a butlers panty and laundry room…Just something to think about.
