Bought an old dump truck

Bought an old dump truck where none of the lights worked, the seat was torn up by mice, a lot of paint had come off, and the fluids were all low.
Truck is a 1980 GMC 7000.

I have the same truck with the 8.2 turbo Detroit Diesel Awesome truck I've had it for about 15 years

Has it held up fairly well? This one is unleaded and I imagine diesel has much better gas mileage.

I had a 1975 in 1975 I was 15 and hauled feed into dairys the good old days at 15 I made 3 times what my collage educated high school teachers were making the good old days..

@@ValleyWoods honestly the only trouble I had was starter solenoids they would get hot from the exhaust manifold and youd have to tap it with a bar but I found a big wire and starter button solved the problem mine had a 366 5 speed 2 speed rear end it was a tough truck.

You can use the exhaust slot in your butane soldering iron to shrink the tubing.

I've got the same truck with a 366 tall deck. 3 miles per gallon. Ouch

Yeah tell me about it. I’m averaging about 5. I ended up getting my rock delivered and using the dumper to move rock around. It ends up about even cost wise but my time is worth something so it’s better for me to have it delivered. Bullet proof truck tho. That thing has been rode HARD for years and still purrs like a kitten

May I suggest to make a security box or the wire brush covers you see on jeep CJ7 I boxed mine update the rear bulb I updated with the high powered and moved my exhaust to a single stack

I've already done what I needed to do to it. I won't be using it very often except to move rock/dirt for personal needs.

So far so good. Haven't had to use them because I don't drive it at night but I've turned them on a few times to see and they're working fine.

Sadly soon all combustion cars and trucks including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Car washs will be forbidden too because they are climate killers, now they want to slow down all the gas station pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime. (BABVVEN & TEBBVEN & BEFVO laws)!!!!
