Dear Cliff and Diane Very nice harvesting. You should be pleased with the potatoes in the tub and also with the carrots. I could hear Diane was pleased with the carrots too. So nice that the purple peas did well. I let mine swell more out before picking. I always grow cylindrical beetroot, and used for picling they are ideal. They do not get woody when they grow big as the round ones. Can I ask why you are burning the foliage on the peas? I do that with the potatoes, but I wonder why the peas. Thanks for a lovely update and good luck with the painting. Best wishes for your weekend. Take good care.
@CastleHillGarden3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Benni.. we had some of the peas with our Sunday lunch they were delicious, thanks once again. I read somewhere some time ago that there was a virus that could overwinter in the compost bin from the pea stems, from then on I always burn them and never had a problem. Enjoy your week happy gardening regards from us both.

Thanks Bill & Val, so pleased you managed to get Val her strawberries, they do taste delicious and make a good size. Blimey Cliff, for someone who "can't grow carrots" you've put my crop to shame, those are fantastic! Can you remember what seed you used? I always stick to Early Nantes which I know grow well in my garden, but always worth trying a different seed. Nothing tastes better than a carrot fresh from the garden, bet they went down rather well with your roast pork. Looks like I'll have to try Cylindra beetroot next year too, those were fantastic.
