I remember when this movie came out, there was this critic who complained that Alita had boobs. Apparently, a cyborg shouldn't look feminine, even of the cyborg started life as a human female and has a body that was designed as a prosthetic body for a human female. That critic got shutvdown pretty quick, which was nice.

Eh, that cyborg is slow to react and not very coordinated, as evidenced by when he decides to run straight through a pipe spewing maybe-toxic goo and also manages to cut his co-conspirator in half. He has just under 4 seconds to figure out what he needs to do (and recover and do it) before he starts getting dragged (it's over at that point. Not easy to cut a tow line while you're getting dragged feet-first and face down). Compared with the odds of having a giant unmonitored side-loading running industrial shredder on a roof in the middle of nowhere, and, well, cyborgs in general, I think this one is pretty plausible 😅

Not sure why she'd keep heading in the same direction as the bounty hunters when she had the rooftops at her disposal and could quite easily lose them by heading in a different direction completely. Also not sure why the dude with two buzzsaws for hands that can easily slice through metal (see how easily he sliced through his friend) didn't just slice the chains around his legs, or his actual legs instead of "clawing at the ground" with them. It's almost like he's got no experience with the drawbacks of buzzsaws for hands, haha.
@manoman54262 жыл бұрын
You forget she's trying to rush to help her love interest, that's why she needs to outrun the bounty hunters and get to the rendezvous at the same time. If you're talking about skating on pipes versus hopping roofs, pipes are smooth highways compared to that obstacle course, she'd lose the momentum built up from skating (she'd actually go slower). As for the buzzsaw hands, what you said is a good point, but have you ever been dragged across the ground by your lower torso? It takes a clear mind, fast hands and strong abs to pull yourself up when your balance is constantly shifting, and proportionally speaking all his weight in his upper body, you and I might be able to do it, but I don't think he can with his hefty extensions.
@DisemboweII2 жыл бұрын
@@manoman5426 Good point first off, she's not just trying to escape completely as they're probably going to find him anyway so she's got to get there first. As for the big guy, I don't know... he should be used to his body shape and size by now, seeing how "agile" he is during the high-speed races. Even dismissing the fact he might have augmented reactions (doubtful), he should know how devastating his buzzsaw hands are and that cutting through his own legs or the chain binding them would be the natural reaction instead of clawing at the ground with then. I'm just an anal idiot when it comes to these small details, I know the movie's about entertainment over realistic behaviour but it's these things that take me right out of the moment. It's like when an evil, "intelligent" baddie doesn't take the first opportunity to kill the protagonist and decides to taunt instead.
