My first detector right here and man this little detector killed the clad and rings. Tone mode is awesome... great recovery too.. works well on the beach too. might give a bit of a problem in the wet but works very well in the dry.. Thanks For sharing..

I’ve been Detecting for years. I own several Detectors some cost over $500 I’ve had two of these trackers. Sold one gave one to my nephew. Several years ago. It is a great Detector. I ordered one tonight October 2022 because I missed it so much.

I started with a used Bounty Hunter Tracker Pro which unfortunately wasn’t working right. So I picked up a used, like new in the box with instructions & headphones Tracker IV for $40 off Marketplace local. It’s a great machine once I watched some videos and set it up correctly for my soil. Even tried it at the beach. I then picked up a used like new Garrett ACE 400 with headphones for $165 from a dealer. I’m still learning it and often go back to the Bounty Hunter Tracker IV which does a great job. Finally I got an offer I couldn’t refuse for a Nokta Makro Simplex Plus in the box like new for $150! I had to drive an hour to get it, but at that price I wasn’t letting it go. I’ll probably sell the Garrett to pay for the Simplex but definitely keeping the Tracker IV as a backup. I also picked up a GP Garrett Carrot Clone for $22 off Amazon on sale. For the money it’s great. I’m on a tight budget and couldn’t pay as much for a Pinpointer as I did for a detector. Now I need a decent shovel so I have nicer plugs. The Tracker IV is great to see if detecting is for you. Keep your eyes on Marketplace. I picked up a Tracker IV that was sold by Radio Shack as the Discoverer 1000 I only paid $15! same as the Tracker IV. The Radio Shack ones sell for less.

He's giving it to you straight, Bob. I have the Tracker IV's little brother, the Fast Tracker. As basic as you can get. No bells or whistles. Either of those two machines will do what the more expensive machines will do, you just have to learn to listen to the tones. One thing I will say is that the new and improved Bounty Hunter pin pointer is reportedly better than the ones they used to sell with the machines. I'm waiting on mine to arrive this week so I'll let you know. A pin pointer will save you a ton of time sifting through a plug. Get out there and enjoy yourself!
