I am absolutely convinced that there is whisky out there for $40, $50, or $60 which is easy to find, which is just as good as the expensive, allocated unicorns. Hard Truth Sweet Mash Rye is $70. Balcones Baby Blue corn whisky is $40. Abasolo Mexican corn whisky is $40. Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Barrel Proof is like $60. I can't afford more than that, and usually I can't afford more than $40. But after any number of samples I've concluded that there is very little out there, if anything, that costs $150 and up which is actually better than things I can afford. Thanks for the rant - you'll get more exposure than I ever will with my paltry 34 subscribers and Thoroughly Amateur™️ production. 👏

I’m 100% on board with the message. I like these whiskey sensibilities type videos. Unfortunately, there is a lot to be pissed about in bourbon collecting at the moment. KZbin whiskey content has changed so much since I started this hobby. There is so much stupidity being spewed. You’ve pointed out one dumb narrative. I’d like to add a couple more. Bourbon hauls are giant crotch shots. I’ve unsubscribed from so many hoarding channels. Some channels make me sick with their gluttonous behavior. I really think some people are too obsessed. Buy what you want, but I’m not watching crotch shots! If you can’t come up with creative content on here, then don’t have a channel. We need whiskey channels to stop following what everyone else is doing. Another thing that bugs me is the intolerance for respectful criticism. If you so much as look at a beloved KZbinr cross eyed in the comments, you’ll get torched and/or labeled as a troll. That’s gotta stop. If you have a public channel, don’t expect sunshine and rainbows from everyone for every video. Thanks for the video and opportunity to vent.

OK I recently subscribed and enjoyed what I've seen so far, but I'm going to give a little different view. It's great you have a case of Stagg at MSRP but 99+ percent of us don't have that option. In fact saying you have a case of Stagg on your floor is kind of a flex in itself. I've been drinking bourbon several years now and here's how many bottles of Stagg I've bought - zero. If I see one on the shelf that has a price not equivalent to prison rape, I'll probably buy it and pay the premium. There's a YT bourbon video from a guy I normally like, but he's doing a blind of like 8 Stagg batches and I'm about ready to unsubscribe since that's basically impossible in my world, so Stagg is sort of a sore spot. Anyway I hope you take that in the spirit it was meant, I do like your videos and wish you success.

So let me make sure I got this right. The only thing you got from the video is I got a case of stagg? 100% of you have the same opportunity to buy stagg at that price, give or take a few bucks based on what state you live in . You choose to buy from stores that overcharge, and you just accept the BS price. People buying bottles at stupid prices are allowing these stores to get away with this. Enough people stop shopping at that store it begins to hurt the store, and you will see the prices come down. (As I have) Telling you that I have a case of stagg isn't to flex or to impress you but to impress upon you that the same thing is possible if people stop supporting stores with overpriced bottles. You have a choice where you spend your money, so choose wisely bc the purchases you make today will affect the prices down the road for yourself and others. Thank you for your support and comment. I concur. I can't in good conscience recommend people pay anything more than MSRP for any bottle. If it's not MSRP, you don't need it. Plain and simple. Walk away. If that means you don't get that bottle you were looking for, so be it. You don't need it. Dollars are getting thin. Greed is destroying bourbon and avarice is gutting out what is still left. It won't end well for anyone, but as usual the decent people get disproportionately affected. I myself am so disgusted by it that I don't want to even look at bourbon anymore while I'm at the store. People are treating bourbon bottles like they are commodities, they are not. They are consumables. You should be able to go to the store and replace your Stagg when it goes empty. It shouldn't be necessary for anyone to have to bunker any of these bourbons, period. Man, I'm glad you got pissed and made a video. It needed to be said and yeah you're going to make some people mad, so what? If it winds up costing those people money, that's what they get for turning a consumable into a commodity and actively trying to rip off their fellow man. @@thatbourbondude I to do say that if other would not go and say “I would pay this much for …” it would help, also, if the bulk of people that over pay based upon hype and the FOMO and stop supporting store that grossly overcharge then maybe, just maybe, the prices would normalize. I do get it, there is not much profit margin in booze, so for a store to upcharge reasonably, like maybe be 10-15% on certain products okay, not 50-100%
