Hey guys! I've been lurking on your channel for a few months now, and this is the video that earned a subscription. I actually grew up with Lainey down here in northeast Louisiana. We are the same age and grew up playing softball together. She's true blue country, grew up helping her daddy on the farm. She left not long after graduation for Nashville, and has been working at her craft for the better part of 17 years. I'm so glad you loved this song from her!! We are so proud of her down here in Franklin Parish!!!!

Wow I had never heard the Laney Wilson song. The only song I've ever heard of hers was the one with Jelly Roll. This one was great. I had also never heard of Mean Mary. I get the correlation. I couldn't resist trying one more Mean Mary and I listened to Blazing. I have two 27-year-old birds who used to dance all the time. But now they're getting older too. They both climbed up on the top of their cages and were dancing their little back sides off. Thank you all, I have my rabbit hole for the day. Can't wait to hear more.

I just went and listened to "Iron Horse" by Mean Mary like you suggested. . . I now have another song added to my instant playlist! I loved the music and really enjoyed her banjo playing, but her voice is what pulled me in! She has a rich dark texture in her sound, and I love voices like that. My old Choir director would refer to it as "Dark Chocolate". He was frequently trying to get the Second Altos to give him more of this sound.

Steve, have you heard of the group "Poor Man's Poison" and specifically their song "Hell's Comin' With Me"? I get somewhat of a similar vibe between this song, Iron Horse, and Hell's Comin' With Me. I'm not sure I would necessarily think of Poor Man's Poison as a Country group, but at the same time I could see Hell's Comin' With Me being considered a country song. I'm curious to see what you think?

@@stevebournite184 another song that reminds me of a western movie is "Cattleman's Gun" by Dean Brody. I don't know if the song or the movie came out first, but the storyline is very similar to the Clint Eastwood movie "Pale Rider". I really enjoy both the movie and the song!

Love Lainey! Her accent is deep and that’s why it might make it hard to understand what she’s singing. I am a little hard of hearing so I always watch the lyric videos also.
