What no one gives credit to is the fact that the writers had the good sense of actually explaining to the audience what Marie did with the money she received. Mostly in action and heist films, they give some cliche reason such as the protagonist sitting on a beach and sipping beverages. But it was so refreshing to see that this was not the case here. Such a novel idea that the Marie character opened up her own small business of supplying scooters on rent to tourists.

Plus Marie getting killed is what fueled him going forward. So yeah, unfortunately Marie kinda needed to go sooner than later
@jhaz892 жыл бұрын
@Lol I do indeed wish they hadn't done the shaky cam, and yeah I've heard about that trend caused a bad trend to start. But it's not that bad. The fact is that overall, the Bourne ultimatum gets better reviews than the Bourne identity, and ultimately...people just have different opinions and nobody's opinion is more relevant or meaningful than the others. But again, having Marie stay alive would make all his sneaking and what have you impossible. So I mean if people were hoping for a romance, then yeah, I can see why they were disappointed, but I'm glad it didn't become that. Or I should say, remain that. And yeah, lots of people like romances in them, which is why most movies include it, even when unnecessary. It's especially a good way to engage the female audience. They eat that romance shit up, haha.

I like how someone pointed out that unlike 007 and Mission Impossible where their theme is at the opening. Bourne's signature is always at the end because unlike them, it's not about being flashy or showing off, it's about one's journey and the struggle through it.

I know the production was troubled, however this is the stand out film of the franchise by a linear mile. Lynam may have been pedantic but it beats the motion sickness of Greengrass hands down.

I spent 5 weeks in 1991 working with Matt, Brendan Fraser and the cast/crew of Matt’s first big film “School Ties.” He was just as intense, focused and had that certain gravitational charisma then in his early 20s as he does today (if you look you can clearly see me in the finished film :-) In any event, I so agree with what everyone is writing here. This is one of those rare films where it simply ALL comes together… And leaves us with this massively satisfying fusion of redemption, unity, coming back together, some good love vibes and Moby’s totally supreme/kick-ass “Extreme Ways,” igniting in the last seconds of seeing Jason and Maria reuniting, going into that great graphic animation as the credits roll… my only change in the series would be I would’ve not killed off Maria at the beginning of the sequel; she was too good hearted and I don’t think it was necessary… the writers could’ve gone more creative and written her out in a different direction, as opposed to instant death by gunshot, from my perspective. CHEERS TO THE BOURNE CREATION TEAM… BRAVO 👏

I like the little detail which make sense in their story. She kept the red bag that he gave to her with the money. It's just above the cash register, with flowers inside.

Such little conversation to portray so much, "You have ID?" "No, not really." This shows how Jason now doesn't have people hunting him actively, therefor they can be together. It also shows how Jason has forsaken his old identity and is now looking forward to the future with Marie as his own person. It makes sense for the film to complete with this dialogue as the name of the film includes the word Identity.
