Nollywood actor Kanayo O Kanayo has expressed his views on the responsibilities of men in relationships, stressing the importance of provision.
Taking to his account on October 13, 2024, the veteran actor posted a video criticizing the trend of men depending on women for financial support, calling it "useless and dangerous."
He started, "I woke up this morning and I was disturbed by a trend that I have found useless and dangerous. When a man depends on a woman to feed him, the usual thing, which is the most disturbing part, is that women want to defend their husbands so that whatever is happening inside doesn't get to the outside.
Sometimes it is detrimental to the progress of the man."
The actor stressed his views regarding family dynamics, stating that men have to take care of their families.
He continued, "Every man has a responsibility to his family; a man who cannot take care of his family is worse. What I am saying is that a man who cannot feed his family has no need to use his private parts on a woman. It is your responsibility, yet women try to cover their husbands."
Kanayo also spoke to women, urging them to consider their choices in marriage carefully, adding that constantly defending men could make them irresponsible.
"This is advice to women: know who you marry. I know all you place above is love, 'I love him, I love him' but provision is key. Even when he loses his job, and is always in the house and doesn't go to struggle and hustle like other men. I understand the need to defend them but don't make them irresponsible," he explained.

Women have always contributed to the home, be it financially or otherwise, but it has never been specified. Our great grand mothers had their farms to provided food for the home, our grand mothers / mothers had petty businesses or went into nursing or teaching profession to support, so contributing to the home by women didn’t start today !

Roles does not define anyone. A man that cannot find a job is disrespected and tagged lazy but a woman that cannot cook , clean or take care of a home is encouraged not to be treated as a house maid. So much confusion.

Where did you get this sense from? Please let's be saying the truth. So which house hold are women not doing anything and their husbands never drive them comot? Cos what is rampant is women doing all the work even when the man is jobless she provides.

In all definitions-you all have reiterated that men are and should be richer and financially stable than women, are you asking ladies to stop been educated and achieving financial growth? Are you saying a lady should always and only look out for and marry men richer than they are? Do u think of ill gotten wealth? Do u talk about the health of the marriage? And the safery of women in marriages? There's actually no definitions to this in actual life, 2 adults who find each other good enough should plan together with their available resources,

No we are saying a lazy man should be avoided. A man lost his job does not mean he should stay at home for a month. My husband ready to carry block if he loses his job. We have a big dublex in Nigeria which he built before he married me, yet when we relocated he did menial jobs for months before he got the job he currently does now. That is a man. Yet there are men here that have been at home for months in this abroad saying they can't do menial jobs. Take note, I have always been working since I graduated in2017, and I got a job immediately we came abroad cos of my qualifications, but my husband carry shifts for factory and was still earning more than me.

You are so on point, a financially buoyant wife is more secured , many men use the fact that the women is not financially ok, to cheat , maltreat or divorce the woman

The funny aspect of it is that the decent financially stable ladies naturally wont like rich men?who wouldn't give them all the time and attention in and out of the home and in the other room is most important to the financially stale ladies

I feel kanayo only looked at it from 1 angle the nigeria we have today is so bad that even when you provide to young girls is never anough they still take advances from other men even when the man is trying his best in Europe marriage is 50/50 I understand the culture of Africa but today is been abused by some women so this narrative shouldn't be 1sided bovi is talking as a rich man even kanayo too what about men with 9 to 5 job who do their best and still get cheated on by their woman for not being rich like bovi
