Hello Damian. Not sure why I haven't seen your videos before now. I'm heading up to Ullapool in Oct and was doing a bit of research on KZbin. Your videos popped up. Have then spent the past couple of hours watching them. You've got a great eye for a composition. Really enjoyed watching the videos, and in particular your explanation for your compositions. Very educational. As for this location, Rattray Head Lighthouse isn't too far away from Bow Fiddle Rock. Have you done a vlog from there? Would like to see that. Anyway, now subscribed.

Greig, thanks very much. Loads of locations around Ullapool, you’ll have a great time. I’ve not been to Rattray yet.

Gorgeous location and great video as usual. You are clearly enjoying your time in Scotland, and I can see why. That whole area is definitely on my list, hopefully one of these not-too-distant years... Cheers!

Thanks Cab - it's a great part of the world and I hope you get to visit before too long.

I will stop going on about what a lovely place you live in. I certainly have plenty of beauty around here myself, if I'd only get myself out to enjoy it... You were pretty close to The Glenmorangie, I hope you went and said hi for me. :)

I'm more of an Old Pulteney fan!
@cab325i7 жыл бұрын
I admit, I've never heard of them. I am very new to the whisky world, just a few months into it, but a quick google tells me that Old Pulteney seems to be a highly sherried whisky, which tells me I am doubtful I'd really love it. But if I run across a bottle, I'll lift a dram in your honor!

Great vid & great tips. I'm a 'for fun' Photographer, the camera is a bolt on to my need to be outdoors in the landscape, woods & forests. I have no intention of wanting to progress other than grow & get better at the photos I take. So the vids that you & many others produce for the viewing of us are a boon, thank you for that. I like your style, you talk to the person watching as if it's an intimate conversation. The fact you share the location allows me to further research these areas to plan my own visits. I look forward to your future vids with happy anticipation.

Thanks Robert, that's a really nice comment. I hope it comes across well, I always try and make it as if I was having a chat with a friend. I hope you have some good outdoor adventures.

Really enjoyed the vlog and the views and the shots. I have to admit to thinking when you were at the very edge that you have your tripod attached to your leg as I had visions of you hitting it as you showed us around. Love what your doing keep it up.

Bill, thanks very much. The cliff looks more dangerous in the film than in real life - I think the GoPro lens adds a bit of something extra!

Excellent vlogs, very informative, when you mention about hyper focal distance, I was about to ask you to do a hyper focal distance vlog but you bet me to it EP29 very well explained. Do you use or have used any filters e.g lee filters or you mainly use bracketing, besides a polarizer
@Drumimages7 жыл бұрын
Henry, thanks for watching. I do use filters, you'll see them in many of my other films. I have a bit of a hotch potch collection 😂

Excellent vlog again Damian, you really got the most out of that stunning location and made some beautiful images.👍 I have a question about the F stop you were using, do you get problems with diffraction when using f/22? Keep up with the great work work mate, I really enjoy watching you work and find the dialogue behind the images fascinating. Take care and stay safe.🍀👌
@Drumimages7 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much Andy. I don't use f22 all that often because of softness and a bit of diffraction, but it worked well in this case. If I was not going for the flow in the sea, I'd probably by f11
@andykeeble17 жыл бұрын
Damian Waters photography thanks for that Damian, I generally try and avoid anything above f/16 and mainly shoot around f/11 to avoid diffraction but it’s interesting to see the results at f/22. I should really use that more, it’s not as if we are wasting film after all!😄

We stumbled on Bow Fiddle Rock a few years ago (actually 2008 - www.flickr.com/photos/escapecrate/2624386777/in/album-72157605885982007/ ) I think it was along the same lines "what's that on the map ... ooooooh". We did a cracking walk from Cullen to Port Knockie this year. There are some impressive rocks along that bit of the coast.

Hi Damian! Another spectacular location. It is indeed a privilege to have a natural corner just for one self. Great photos, the location and the light were really on your side. One thing I enjoyed about your video was to understand how you move about to make the best of the light as the sun gradually sets. Correct if I am wrong, you started the video roughly, was it an hour before sunset? And then half an hour into blue hour? It is really interesting to see how another photographer approaches a different location. Thanks for sharing. PS. After going to Google Earth maps, I found amazing the urban pressure of the little village really upon the natural cliffs.

Wow!!! What an amazing location, I'm soooo jealous. That is a photographers playground. Awesome shots, awesome video. How did you find f22 as an aperture? did you get any softness or was the sharpness all good? I've heard and read that f22 can cause softness in the image. Anyway Awesome stuff Damien, looking forward to your next video!!👍👍👍👍👍👍
@Drumimages7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Tim, it was a pretty special evening, especially as it had it mostly to myself. Yes f22 can be a bit soft, but not enough to be a major issue. I wouldn't use it too much, but this was a good time to.
