Kirsch is magnificent, but the real icing on the cake is Mimosa's attitute towards him. She hates him so much and it's so perfect. Vermillions continue to prove they're the best royal family. Ash is an attribute on the fire tree of the elements, the witch on the capital attack arc had ash magic too, but a variation "cursed ash". That was the logic of her magic: ash or things like sand absorbs water quite well, she absorbed "youthfulness". Zora uses it to absorb magic. This is not a spoiler, it is my interpretation of the events. The author normally does not explain magic types, he throws them in and let the audience think for themselves the why of the attribute with practical examples scattered around the story.

I think, as what i've noticed with other magic, Ash magic is his attribute and it it in the form of trap magic. Just like Yami's attribute is dark and it's in the form of slashing or something related to his sword, Magna's fire magic attribute in the form of a baseball bat and ball etc.

In the first raid on the city. We had Yuno get blinded by the woman who used cursed Ash magic (the one that stole the youth of people, back at the award ceremony) Ash is a sub element under fire. This character uses it so far for traps but yeah we have seen it used before to curse people.

Black Bulls were fairly trash before Asta came and inspired them to be/get better. They had negative stars because basically, they did the mission they were given but the collateral damage to property was so high was it really worth it to send them? Then you have all the personality issues and lack of teamwork that existed prior to the growth they experienced due to Asta.
