Bowers and Wilkins 700 Series Review and Demonstration

Hello. I have ordered bowers 706 s2 without demo as demo is not possible where I live . I will be pairing them with my old Harman Kardon 3380 stereo receiver. I have heard reviews that these speakers sound bright / harsh so one cannot listen for too long ? Doesone have to do any tonal adjustments to 706 s2 for listening?

I was slightly gutted last year I bought a brand new set of CM9S2 speakers in may at full price CM9S2 cm5s2 cm2s2 ds3 and Asw10cm 12cm fully aware that they had been on the market for sometime but about 4 mouths later the new 700 range comes out

It is unfortunate B&W released a new range, but they're still a great set of speakers for sure!

Hi, can you tell me if there is major difference between 702 and 703 other than extra bass? My main concern is my wife doesn't like the external tweeter look...so does it really sound different having tweeter inside vs outside the cabinet? We will be adding subwoofer so bass is no problem. Also while we are at it...if you can only choose 1 pair would you take 805 d3 or 702? Thank you.

Hi! It's pretty much extra bass as the tweeter is encased in a cabinet, the sound is great on both though, it'd be a great idea before buying to visit your local Hi Fi dealer and have a listen of them both side by side. Our technical team may be able to help out more if you'd like to Call Us On: 02476 631 707 Out of the 805 d3 or 702 i'd go with the 702's as they have more clairty in the mid ranges, i felt the 805's only sounded better at higher volumes.

I'm thinking about changing my cm9s for the new 704s2 , im using a svs sb2000 subwoofer so bass is not going to be an issue, will i notice a difference in sound quality with the smaller midrange?

We believe you would notice a difference for sure, but it's something we would highly advise getting an in store demo of first as we hear sound differently - but generally i think it would be a nice upgrade.

How do the cm9s2 compare to the 703 s2 ?

Hello Harry, the 703 provides a huge improvement in sound over the CM9. The main difference for us being that use of the Continuum driver. The mid range is massively improved due to this. They're warmer but also much more detailed. The carbon tweeter has a much more suttle delivery in addition to this, personally I found that CM9's could sometimes sound slightly harsh in the top end. I had a customer who also found this and he was bi amping using valve amplifiers. If you need any more information please give me a call on 02476 631707

Why in the freaking world would you "play them for us to hear"? We can't hear them through our laptop speakers. EVER. Why do people keep doing this? It's the bane of a audiophile world.

Why use laptop speakers? Utube is 48k, and sounds quite good through a sound system. Through these demos you can discern gross failures of design. But not through laptop speakers.

@@musicman8270 The point was that the vast majority of viewers are not viewing this video with anything remotely resembling a hifi system. Even if you ARE viewing with a hifi system, the complete inadequacy of the recording apparatus and the totally different system you are listening to it on still makes such an exercise a complete farce. You are not listening to those speakers, or even a remotely close representation of them, and there is no viable way to provide a listening impression worth 10 cents on this media delivery system. It's a pointless exercise, and people in the business of reviewing such items should know better. Sorry, it's just a pet peeve of mine. You might as well tell people to look how great the results of your vision corrective surgery were.

Sorry our demo dosen't entice you to buy the speakers, they;re a fantastic range and we always recommend listening to them at your local dealer as they sound a lot better in person :)

Really disappointed you didn't have the 702 there. It is the flagship model after all. And it's not called "tweeter on top" technology, it's called "DECOUPLED." You didn't sound like you really knew all that much about the speakers. A person can learn more right off the Bowers & Wilkins website. My advice, know more about what your reviewing first, then lose the shirt that's too tight and the moronic man bun.

He sounded like he knew a whole lot about them. He focused on the cheaper models though. And more people are going to buy them than the best in the series.
