I absolutely agree with your conclusions except the ANC on the PI7 worked well for my case. They really need better controls customization and much longer battery life, then i think they would be unmatched. Also the pairing process is a no go for me as well as limitation of transmitter case to B&W only products. I have a small bluetooth emitter around i bought for 20 euros that i take with me when i am on a plane (they have dual receiving and transmitting audio) Especially At their price point they should be flawless...how you going to review Devialet Gemin?

I'm a virgin earbuder, so this is all new to me. I've ordered my PI7 today. Not too concerned about not having an equaliser on the B&W app as I already have this on my music player...just a tad concerned whether or not they will fit into my ears or not. I'm surprised that earbud developers have not thought about memory foam buds, that remember the size of your ear canals.

Some earbuds have comply foam eartips bundled in the box. These don't, but they do have a universal eartip size - so you can buy your own and swap them in if you like 👍🏼

I've only tried these out in a hi-fi store near where I live, and honestly they sound so damn good for True Wireless earbuds (the PI7's, that is). But I feel kinda exactly like you're saying: The PI7's are so damn expensive that i'm not sure that it's worth the upgrade on sound over for an example Sony and Sennheisers' offerings that are at this point almost half the price (or at least 35% cheaper). The PI5's sound great too but they're definitely less of a compelling package at that price point compared to some other brands too, so I'd have a hard time recommending those unless someone is a real B&W fan but don't want to break their piggy bank just yet. If you got money to spare and want the best sound the Pi7's are a major go, but i'm not sure if they're worth it for a lot of people. I'm still personally on the fence, i'm not exactly flush with cash but I really do enjoy audio, and i'm in that awkward stage where I kinda only like in-ears and want the best sound, and I can't go back to cables at this point so all the real wired IEMs that probably sound better than these at lower pricepoints are just not for me at this point either. But since our return policies for earbuds here are non-existent (if you open the package, you ain't returning them, that's that) I don't feel like I can spend enough time with them to see if I think they're actually worth it.
@insidetechltd3 жыл бұрын
Very well said. And I completely relate to this! It’s really tough if you’ve not got a returns policy guarantee 😕 I’d be inclined to say that the PI7 needed to tick a few more boxes first, or maybe wait and see if the price drops a little?
@philippesandmeier37363 жыл бұрын

@charliewilson32343 жыл бұрын
I bought them, have them for 2 weeks now. Good sound, it's clear good bass and does a really good job with producing sound, but if your file is of low quality you will be able to tell with the PI7. The batt drains quick, call quality is good, Have the ability to be EQed and not fall apart as others, does not play loud out the box. I still like the JayBird X3 better over these. JayBird for gym and runs when I need pumping up, PI7 for relaxed listening sessions. I also found the BT range weak paired with a Note9. 8 to 9 Ft. Its a bummer as I work in my garage and listen to podcasts and walk away from my phone often and it's breaks up, so I used the X3. These are great because you can eq and then it has a great sound. I use Poweramp pro with the ability to eq and increase preamp vol. My 2 cents. If these are going to be your only pair you might not like them the $400 price tag is bunk. Also connected to ipod classic and used BT transmission function, the volume out put was worthless. Very low.

Hi InsideTech! I know this is about something you reviewed two years ago, but I just picked up the SANDMARC telephoto zoom lens for my iPhone XS, and my camera goes black if I zoom in over 2x. Do you know the fix for this? Love the videos!
@insidetechltd3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I certainly do, because I had the same problem. So you’re using the default camera app right? Unfortunately the iPhone will try to switch back to the other camera (which is blocked by the lens and that’s why it looks black). So you have to use a third party app to manually select the Tele lens. You can use something like “Lightroom” (which is free) or other third party apps. You don’t need to pay for a subscription or anything like that. I used Lightroom, and it let me select each lens manually and fixed the issue!

The midrange is exceptional, and the Bass is both strong and detailed. There is a mid bass, there is a low end. They are very dynamic. Only thing is I am only getting an Apt X connection with my Hiby R6 and at times I am getting some cut out during playback. Now I am not using a phone but a pretty good DAP in the NEW HiBy R6. I am thinking it might be the Hiby rather than the PI7's. Have you experienced any connection issues?

Agreed - better than a lot of over-ear headphones! Yes, I expect the issue is with the Hiby player because i've not had issues with the phones i've tested. I'm no expert on Hiby, but it could be to do with the antennas/bluetooth profiles - I really wouldn't know. But the PI7 were engineered to work with phones so better performance with them makes sense. Are you able to fiddle with the settings on the Hiby? Play around with the codecs etc?
@stevel43293 жыл бұрын
@@insidetechltd Connection is better now with Hiby. I also tried streaming from my NAD M10 via apt X connection and the M10 Does apt X HD yet the app is stating apt X only. I can't say exactly, having not tested that device myself, but a lot of phones often default to particular codecs like aptX. With those you can go into the settings to choose a specific codec, so is that possible on your device? It might be only on the device end that you can specify this 🤷♂️

I can imagine a pair of McIntosh earbuds, no volume buttons 2hours battery life no wireless charging $1000 and people would camp out to buy them.

McIntosh…?

What do you think between Sony Wf 1000xm4 vs BW Pi7? Thank you!

PI7 better for sound quality and comfort...pretty much everything else goes to Sony though!

No, they shut off automatically a lot and are not worthy of something at this price point. The noise cancelling I thought was weak. Maybe the people on here have special ears because I don’t hear it.

They've finally been discounted here in the UK, but yeah...crazy expensive!

@@insidetechltd don’t buy these things. I have a pair of soundcore dots that sound way better than these things and Walmart joes has them for $50. This is an overpriced item with no good qualities. The sound is poor. The noise canceling is a bit of a joke. The fit is uncomfortable. The battery life is short. The case is a bit of a dumb design. The chord is usb-c to usb-c. Who uses that? They shut off at any movement of your face or your head so don’t move while listening. I am going to send these things back. What garbage.

Lol if the Pi5’s are over priced so are the Pi7’s.

You don’t even put these into your ears properly.
@insidetechltd2 жыл бұрын
Do you mean that I don't put them in the way you think is right? Because for me, I put them in so that they fit securely and feel comfortable - which is properly 🤷♂️
@jameswilkinson1502 жыл бұрын
@@insidetechltd NO, the manual says the mic should face forward which also makes the rest of your review wrong as you complain about the mic not working properly. If you bothered to put them in correctly (I.e. in the way that a) fits your ears properly and b) enable the mic etc to work properly) your ‘review’ might be worthy of watching. As it is, it’s crap.

@@jameswilkinson150 First of all, you're only seeing some capture of me putting the earbuds in my ears to film with them - this doesn't necessarily represent the way I wore them every single time I used them. Secondly, If I place the earbuds in my ears naturally, comfortable (as anyone else will) and the microphone is poorly positioned....so be it! That's a design flaw, or perhaps they just don't work well for me (and this review is my experience, my thoughts). If you have to wear them differently to 'normal' just to satisfy the mic positioning, that's a flaw with the earbuds. It's nothing to do with not bothering. This is my experience from using the earbuds, it doesn't invalidate the results I found at all, perhaps just your perception of it.

@@insidetechltd OK, I like reviews that actually know what they’re talking about, so I won’t find it here.
