I'm very happy about the redesign. When it was released, I went out and immediately bought the blue PX after seeing the gorgeous design with its gold accents as a replacement for the Bowers P7 I owned (lovely headphones, just too small for me). I adored the way they looked, although they were a bit uncomfortable due to the design of the top band. I received many compliments on the way they looked, they had very decent battery life, and they sounded great for non-wired headphones. Then came the PX7 and it just looked, to put it bluntly, cheap in comparison to the PX. As such, I've held off from buying them and I'm glad I waited. I will have to test out the comfort of these, as well as the PX8 when it's released, but I hope these can finally be my upgrade from the PX. I will definitely be buying the blue model, although I will most like buy a set of black earpads to add a bit of contrast.

@@skitbraviking That would be on Apple's shoulders, not B&W. They only offer AAC, and the proprietary new ALAC on their devices. @julianfp19522 жыл бұрын
I'm interested in that as well. I like my PX7 but my one complaint is that for the sort of music that I listen to (rock, indie, blues mostly) I find the bass on the PX7 to be a bit loose and flabby which gives a slight muddiness to the overall sound at least to my ears. I like bass so I like the fact that the PX7 has quite a lot of it but I wish it was more articulate and better controlled. That is the one area that I hope the s2 might have improved on.
@AudioAdvice2 жыл бұрын
The Px7 S2 sound profile is even more natural. Some have reported the previous Px7 as having a bit more of a "darker," "warm" sound signature. We would say the previous Px7 has a very natural soundstage, but compared to the Px7, the new S2 is even more natural sounding and slightly more resolute to our ears. B&W did not provide a frequency response-however, the Px7 S2 has a pretty neutral profile that sounded very natural across a wide range of frequencies. We hope this helps and thanks for watching.

In the last few days I focused on my choice: Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2-Blue. The sound quality is overwhelming, whatever the origin. These headphones just play brilliantly. And they play with full sound, detail, and the range (low, medium, high) are fully audible and do not prefer any of them. The appearance, although it is a very subjective opinion, is ... gorgeous, even fantastic. Delightful with modernity. Even prestigious. You can see immediately that these headphones - Bowers And Wilkins PX7 S2 - are not often found on the streets. Hovewer there is one question that I have not found an answer to anywhere, including the official website Bowers And Wilkins PX7 S2 and no response from the support department Bowers And Wilkins ! Unbelievable. What is the simplest question ever ? What voice assistants support these headphones ? And are these headphones suport Google assistants ? That's really strange that B&W can't decide itselves ( on their web sites ) what version of BT these cans have !!! And worse still is that B&W Support HAVE NOT answered for this (my ) question ( sic!). Maybe they don't know themselves By the way.. do you know what voice assistants support these headphones ? More over I still do not know if these headphones can support Google Assistant and does the voice assitant depend on the brand of phone connected to it? I have a Samsung Galaxy and Bixbi reports to me by default. The Assistent depends on which one your phone has one e.g Iphone has Siri ). I turned off Bixbi and now I use Google Assistant ;-))) BTW: However, these headphones have one drawback. The proximity sensor installed in them sometimes works poorly, i.e. despite the headphones are on the head , it stops the music. Three possible settings do not change anything. I hope B&W knows about it and will fix it in the nearest firmware. Some users noticed this issue too..
@AudioAdvice2 жыл бұрын
There is no built-in voice assistant in the PX7. It does totally depend on the voice assistant built into your phone as you mentioned. On the left ear cup, there is a multifunction button that has a few different settings you can customize. You can customize it to activate the Active Noise Canceling and Ambient Aware transparency modes - or you can set it to automatically activate your phone's built-in voice assistant. @EddieInzauto2 жыл бұрын
By “better clamping force” than the PX7, do you mean “less” clamping force? My primary complaint about the original PX7 is that due to the angle of the headband’s arc it’s a bit too tight for long-lasting comfort, as it squeezes at the base of my ears and upper end of my jaw. Otherwise it’s an amazing set of headphones. Reducing that clamping force and/or widening the arc of the headband could make the S2s perfect.

Are these capable of momentum 3 levels of bass once you tweak the EQ? I love the default sound of the momentum 3 but the headband is uncomfortable and they are too heavy.
@AudioAdvice2 жыл бұрын
We will have to test the momentum 3 further, but a close look at the specs shows the Momentum 3 Over-Ear Noise Canceling Headphones have a frequency response of 6 Hz to 22,000 Hz, which is pretty good bass. B&W did not provide a frequency response, so we are not sure how low the new Px7 S2 really goes, but the bass is tight, resolute, and very natural sounding to our ears. The Momentum's driver is 4.2mm compared to the 40mm drivers in the Px7 S2. Having said that, they weigh about the same, but the Px7 S2's newly designed headband is extremely comfortable, and the clamping force is amazing on the new Px7 S2. You can read more about the sound quality and comfort it in our full-written review: www.audioadvice.com/bowers-wilkins-px-7-s2-wireless-noise-canceling-headphones We hope this helps and thanks for watching.

In terms of sound quality, they are fantastic if you prefer listening to music with a lot of natural instruments, such as Jazz, Classical, Rock, Bluegrass, etc. Sony XM5 has been more refined this iteration with less emphasis on the bass compared to XM4. In terms of sound quality, both are close to being on the same level. If noise-canceling is very important to you, then the XM5 will provide the best noise-canceling with really good sound quality too. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!

How do they sound with Dolby Atmos songs?
@AudioAdvice2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your question. We did not test the Px7 S2 with Dolby Atmos songs since the Px series do not have 360 Realty Audio or Dolby Atmos/Spatial Audio. If you are shopping for a pair of noise-canceling headphones that will let you experience immersive audio formats, those are features of the Sony WH-1000XM5. www.audioadvice.com/sony-wh-1000xm5-wireless-noise-cancelling-headphones We will have a video review coming out on this headphone very soon, so if you're interested in that stay tuned and subscribe to this channel so you will be notified when our review comes out. I saw on another review of the next step up from the PX7 S2’s , the PX8’s that said once the internal battery dies ,after about 3 years, there’s no option to get a replacement fitted and they become a pretty ornament. I’m not sure about the S2’s yet but it’s a deal breaker for me if these suffer the same issue. I’m on disability benefits and £329 for headphones that will only last 3 years tops just isn’t feasible. Imagine with the PX8’s that cost around £699 and die at a similar age? Craziness.
@danhat69 Жыл бұрын
Does anyone know if the S2’s have same problem? Do the Sony XM5’s?
@AudioAdvice Жыл бұрын
That is not true. We contacted B&W and they can service the battery.
@danhat69 Жыл бұрын
@@AudioAdvice oh that’s good. God knows why the person wrote that about the PX8’s? I presume if the battery on the S2’s can be serviced/replaced then the same will hold true for the PX8’s? I very nearly didn’t buy the S2’s because of the other commenter’s erroneous info. Wish people wouldn’t speak if they’re not accurate in what they’re saying (polite way of telling them to STF UP). Thanks again for your reply.
@rickz7461 Жыл бұрын
If the S2s use a Lithium Ion battery they should be good for at least 500 x 0%-100% charges or 1000 x 50%-100% charges so you see how it works. A dead battery after 3 years would only happen if it was receiving at least 3 full charges a week which means over 100hrs of use a week, that's circa 15hrs a day. Anybody using their S2s this much will have a bigger issue than battery life it's called tinnitus....
@danhat69 Жыл бұрын
@@rickz7461 I do use headphones for longer than that some days. Unfortunately where i live is very noisy (hence wanting very good ANC). I often even use them for sleeping. weirdly playing my own noise is far less disturbing than hearing other people's. I already have the dreaded tinnitus though not from hearing damage. From taking benzodiazepine medication ;( BTW the headphones have gone back up to £379 from £329. Looks like B&W dont want me to buy them lol

How is the service and out of warranty repairs on this product? Because I returned already two PX’s and two days ago they ask me to pay for the new one while today they released this PX7-S2. Quite unfair right? I suggest to those who are prepared to spend days of contacting their service hotline, email, buy B&W’s.

@Daniel-Condurachi2 жыл бұрын
@@AudioAdvice I'm not a BMW fan :) A question: how does the Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2 compare to the Technics EAH-A800E on sound quality, on the perceived quality in calls on a windows laptop, and on ANC? What about the comfort for the ears/head based on the use of materials and the possible longevity? What about comparing the PX7 S2 with the Bang & Olufsen Beoplay Portal PC/PS? I know they seem an odd comparison if yo read the marketing stuff of both headphones, but in the end they are not that different. They can be both used USB-C wired and have the buit-in DSP to connect to PC. The PX7 S2 have the case extra and the Beoplay Portal PC has the 2.5 GHz dongle for improved connection to PC, that surpasses the best Bluetooth codecs, or at least the APTx the B&W have. Thanks!
@AudioAdvice2 жыл бұрын
@@Daniel-Condurachi Hi Daniel. Regarding comparisons with the Technics EAH-A800E or Bang & Olufsen Beoplay Portal PC/PS, we have not had a chance to directly compare those against the Px7 S2. We have only directly compared them to the previous Px7 model and Carbon Edition. With that said, we agree the models you mentioned would be good comparisons! The Px7 S2 sound profile is very natural. Some have reported the previous Px7 as having a bit more of a "darker" or "warmer" sound signature. The 2 band EQ in the app is a pretty nice addition so you can tweak the sound to taste as well. We hope this helps and thanks for watching.

Hi Shaun! We are so glad you are enjoying them. The Px7 S2 is fantastic for the money. While we can't say for sure what B&W will release next, prices will likely continue to rise. We hope that helps, and thanks for watching.

I have both. I have the S2, I got my GF the PX8. The PX8 is definitely an upgrade. But, what I'll say is it's a diminishing value proposition. They're better. The sound quality is better imo. The materials are much nicer. But the S2s are already stellar. And unless you just have money to burn, or simply want the greatest, the better that you get, is in the fine details that people who don't listen to a ton, wouldn't notice. If you're an audiophile, you will notice.
@charlesgutscher19232 жыл бұрын
@@NN-df7hl obviously the better the audio format the better these sound. However. I listen mostly with KZbin music and Spotify. Comparing some tracks from there over to Qobuz, I don't think you NEED to only listen high res. But if you have a particular song.younreslly just want to hear everything, stream through Qobuz. As far as ANC, it's the exact same system as the S2. Which is to say it's good. It's plenty good for most people but if you're looking specifically for anc, the Sony XM5 and Bose QC45 are better options specifically for anc. But I'll accept slightly reduced and performance for the much better sound and build you get with these. I also use Bose QCII earbuds when I want simply ANC benefits.

Dear Sir..if you be so kind pls let me review these headphones here by myself enjoy your kindness First of all: Whatever the sound quality you hear, I do not recommend BOWERS & WILKINS Px7 S2. I have been using BOWERS & WILKINS Px7 S2 intensively for about a week. The sound of music is fantastic BUT. There is always “but”, isn’t it ? There are at least three reasons made me give them up and why I returned them twice ( the first time they had to be reset twice to turn them on) to the store. Firstly : the operation of WEAR SENSOR is absolutely unacceptable. Whatever you set it up (low-normal-high) causes that even the slightest movement of the head (up-down-left-right) turns the music off immediately !!! This also, all walks (not to mention running) these headphones with wear sensor feature turned on become useless. Even sitting comfortably in the armchair turning your head in any direction turns off the music, which makes these headphones useless. Yes, of course, this system can be completely disabled but for what it’s there for ! Secondly: Noise Canceling is also a very weak compared to other headphones at this price. For example NC in Technics EAH-A800E ,at half the price works much, much better ! Thirdly: the B&W Music application is very modest but it is ok. Unfortunately, its launch is very slow which can also be annoying. Moving on to conclusions. Perhaps B&W will be able to correct this annoying drawbacks that prevents the normal use of these headphones in a new, future software update . However, without this certainty, I will probably opted for much cheaper and certainly without these errors: The latest Sennheiser MOMENTUM 4 Wireless, SONY WH-1000XM5B ANC (already tested in "battle") or even B&O ANC Beoplay H95. And no, I'm not going to buy anything from Bowers & Wilkins in the future… But if these bugs do not bother you, and your priority is the quality and tone of the sound, these headphones can be a great choice. I do appreciate all the comments of the viewers of your review, and especially your opinion on my review.

Thanks for watching our video. We appreciate your point that this was a super positive review. A few points we should have made. First, the Px7 S2 is a best-in-class ANC wireless headphone and one that really stands out. The second point is that for every review we do, there are dozens of products we don't put out videos on. In other words, we simply don't waste people's time with reviews and comparisons on products that we don't believe in. The third point is with this being a new product at the time we released the video, we focused on giving people the news they are looking for about it. Our individual reviews are where we dive deeper into any of the negatives if there are any to call out, and we mentioned the ones that stood out. If you're interested in the full-written version, you can skim through that here: www.audioadvice.com/bowers-wilkins-px-7-s2-wireless-noise-canceling-headphones Thanks for watching.
