Had you heard of the bowfin prior to watching this episode? What did you learn about these fish?

Well, I found out just about everything in this video about these fish as I have no heard about them before, quite interesting fish if I do say so myself.

Even though I live in the eastern United States, I didn't know these creatures existed! I also didn't know there were any fish in the US that could live out of water!

I caught a 2 footer the other day. Such a powerful fish . It straightened the hook and got away at the boat after a 5 minute fight

When I was a kid this fish literally fell from the sky and has lived on my terrace for more than a week. It hid behind some boards and the leaves that piled up. It died but I think it went into hibernation, as I have known them. I knew it was a fish but we didn't have a large container to put it in so we left it. My dad was amazed by how long it lived, especially when it fell from the sky. We don't know if someone threw it up the terrace or a bird lost hold of it.

@@jimmywhitlow2012 We didn't know it was a fish or anything. We only identified it as a fish a week or so later, just as it was about to die. Thinking it was a fish was the last thought we had. It formed that mucous shell, it looked like crap...

Bowfin are one of my favorite fish...unfortunately in Texas many fishing folks consider them a trash fish and make efforts to control their population...all so more bass can live. It really is a stupid mentality and I always try to make efforts to stop this behavior, just last weekend I saw someone with 4 bowfin on the side after catching left out to die, with no intention of eating. Luckily I said I would eat them and wanted them, where I was late able to save them.

Im from arkansas near pine bluff! Theres this creek in grant county called the hurricane ive never seen so many of these in my life but i can say theyre a sportsman fish in how hard they fight

I never knew bowfin can stay out of the water a breathe for 21 days. Other fish families that would make good videos are triglidae, pomatomidae, and triakidae.
