Bowflex Velocore JRNY app and Software review. How well does it work, and is it worth it?

Firstly, thank you so much for the video. It really helped me. I want to ask you how easy it is to stream a different app to the bike screen. I use Studio Sweat for spinning. Can I just stream the workout from my phone or laptop to the screen? As in "cast" it to the screen. I see you mentioned that streaming, I am just wondering about this.

I can’t seem to find any information on whether or not ops like the swift will measure your speed and even if the journey app measures your speed and cadence, which for me, is the most important thing on any stationary bike, also does the journey App allow you to compete with other people

Thanks for these videos. I’m just starting to compare the choices of stationary bikes in this price range and the Velocore definitely caught my attention for the leaning capabilities. I’m wondering if you could answer a few questions I have based on your experiences so far: 1. Does JRNY offer live classes or are all videos pre-recorded? 2. How do you find the lean feature compared to an actual bike? Is there any feedback in the JRNY screen for leaning? Is the leaning harder than a real bike? 3. Does the resistance automatically adjust when you do the workouts or the Explore The World maps to match what the grade would be on the maps? 4. If I have a Zwift account, will the Velocore “pair” with Zwift and record my workout in realtime in Zwift so it more or less acts as a controller for Zwift including resistance? Again thanks so much for the videos you’ve don so far. I’ve found them very helpful.

JRNY does not offer live classes. One thing I wish they did, and hopefully they will add in the future. The lean feature, compared to an actual bike is harder. The bike tends to move further than an actual bike would. Leaning during a workout is much more of a workout, as you tend to stay in that position for periods of time. There is an indicator as to how much you have leaned during a particular workout. The resistance does not automatically adjust, but on the screen will tell you where your resistance should be at. I have not used zwift with it, but my understanding is that you can use it like any other trainer because the bowflex has bluetooth connectivity.

You do have to select the radio station in order to play music. You can change the station at any time during the workout. You can also use your phone to connect to the bluetooth and play your phone through the display speakers.

In making your decision did you consider purchasing Nordictrack bike? If so what made you buy this one over the Nordictrack brand ?

Great question! I did compare several models including the Peloton, Nordictrack, and ProForm. I ultimately decided on the bowflex for a few reasons. 1) The lean feature. Something not on any other stationary bike. 2) Cost. Not only the cost of the bike, but of the membership as well. The bowflex membership is only $149 for the year, compared to upwards of $500 for other brands. 3) The features that the software has including streaming and compatibility with other apps.

you cannot at this time. I've provided feedback to bowflex and they are looking at implementing it in a future release. As soon as I get more information regarding this, I'll update.

Thanks for this great video. Im stationed overseas and wanted to purchase one and have it shipped but I need to know if the power adapter is dual voltage. Can you please check yours to see if it reads 100-240 VAC on the plug.. it would be in tiny print in the backside of the plug. Thanks for any information you can provide.

Can you add the Les Mills app to the screen? Can you move the screen out of the way when using a tv? My husband wants this bike, but we love Les Mills and would want to continue some of our favorites. Also, do they have rides similar to Les Mills trip? Sorry for the all of the questions.

Additional apps cannot be added to the screen. Additionally, the screen is stationary and cannot be rotated or moved. I'm not familiar with the app, but by looking at it, some of those features do not exist in the Bowflex app. That being said, The bike does have a tablet/phone holder so that you can place it in front of the screen and could possibly connect with the existing Les Mills app and do a workout.

Thanks for true update. My bike arrived today (22 Nov., 2020). I ordered in on Sep., 15 so it took approximately 9 weeks to deliver. I paid for assembly and now waiting for them to schedule my assembly. I have back issues (two surgeries) so can’t lift anything heavy.

I love it. I've honestly not been riding it as much lately with the nice weather coming on, but on days where it is cold or wet, I still get on and ride. Absolutely would still recommend it for someone who is looking for a stationary bike!

You cannot stream another app to the screen, but the scenery is rather pleasing. Several different locations. I do have a few concerns regarding the scenic rides, as the streaming quality can be pretty poor, and sometimes they just stop working. I've submitted a ticket to bowflex regarding this.

There is currently a special offer with the IC4 and C6 - free 1 yr JRNY membership - don’t know how long it will last. I’ve been very impressed with the JRNY app so far - syncs easily to my IC4 - it has a better display of ride metrics then the IC4 screen and the training classes are super good and help push you to work harder. I like to mirror my JRNY screens to my TV - nice to see on big screen. I also use the JRNY app basic ride workout to give me my ride metrics on my iPad while I watch and do apple fitness plus cycling workouts - programs on my TV so I can easily see my cadence and resistance (?) and the calories burned on the iPad which apple fitness doesn’t provide except for calories.

You can. The bike works without the monitor. If you want to use a different app, or just watch your own tv, you can certainly do that. You won't get metrics though, so keep that in mind.

Has anyone changed out the seat? I took the fitness assessment and my ass is sore. I put a gel set cover on the seat and it felt a little better. Going to try riding and wearing padded bike shorts for more comfort.

you cannot stream the app to the screen. You can use your account to connect to the peloton app via the jrny program and use your phone, but cannot stream the app to the screen on the Velocore.

There are certain programs that you can use netflix, hulu, disney+ with. Some videos, like ones with a trainer cannot be used simultaneously with neflixnor other streaming apps.

Sorry Jennifer, I don't use the Peloton app with the bike. At this time I am only using the JRNY app. Although you have the ability to use the Peloton app, you can't use several of their services without having the Peloton bike, so I don't see a need to do that.

Yes, I have used the Peloton app. While it does offer additional features (like live classes) my opinion is that pairing this bike with the JRNY app is a great combination and the cost reflects that. I've spoken with Bowflex and they are looking at additional feature deployments and I'm excited to see what they are planning.

Thanks for the video overview. Just got our Velocore. Overall, love the physical machine and getting great workouts using it. Have had some issues with the tablet and JRNY app. Tablet loses WiFi connection (WiFi router is less than 12 ft. away and none of our Apple products have any issues connecting to WiFi from the location where our Velocore is). Often get no video/stats on the screen when starting a new workout. Have to reset the tablet. That's annoying and time consuming. Tablet makes us re-login to our profile if the Velocore has been idle for a day or so. Again, annoying and time consuming.

I like using the actual bike but there are problems they need to fix if you want to use zwift. The locked monitor is annoying. Also the jrny app is horrible. 1. add the zwift app so i can display zwift on the bowflex screen instead of on my laptop. unluck the screen so we can add apps like zwift and youtube. 2. why does the manual workout stop at 1:39... i regularly bike for 4+ hours. 3. you cant do the jrny off bike videos... the monitor pauses when you stop pedaling. this is a poor design. please fix. 4. add watts to screen... why so i have to connect to another app to see my watts.

Anybody buying this bike...just note the jrny software is buggy. While the streaming service feature is cool...its distracting if youre a serious rider trying to get a good workout. I don't often stream on the bike. It is a good bike tho

I’m not interested in the JRNY capabilities. Since I do metal fabrication as a hobby, I thought I would purchase the bike with the smaller display screen, then fabricate a metal stand to hold a flat screen TV in front or on place of the Velocore screen. This would bypass the JRNY membership and give me access to KZbin and other options. Would this work?
