These comments are crazy. Born and raised here and love this town. Y'all are commenting like you thought you were getting off the boat in manhattan. What did you expect??? Super safe, can commute 20 miles in 30 min, tons of jobs, beautiful countryside, plethora of sit down restaurants, active community, 4 golf courses, drag strip, 5 high schools, great university.... People just want want want and can't slow down to take a breath. This ain't Nashville. This ain't LA. This ain't New York. If being an ant in a hill full of self absorption then yes you probably don't like Bowling Green

Im from here too. I am looking to move just to get a change of environment and new experiences but Bowling Green is a nice little city. We are actually very diverse for such a small town.

My wife & I moved to Alvaton from the suburbs of Rochester, NY about 4-years ago. We bought a house valued about the same as our home in Rochester. Taxes were $8200 a year up north and $1700 a year in Kentucky. I built a 30'x40' bluilding for my hobby interests with NO zoning hassle at all. Got my building permit in a month or so of applying and had it up in three months after that. Zoning people couldn't have been and friendlier and helpful. Contrast that with Rochester, where they seem to delight in throwing obstacles in your way to delay a project as long as possible. We really love it here. I love the country life, but also like to go to SKYPAC for cultural events or many of the better restaurants and locally owned diners for a great meal. Beech Bend Park for the grandchildren & drag racing. I'm 77-years old and am sorry I didn't get here sooner, but I found the place I plan to die in.

Moved here from Florida to Rockyhill, KY near Smithsgrove and 30 miles from Bowling Green. We absolutely love it here! I work at Kobe Aluminum (KAAP) and the pay is very awesome! And no development planned where i live out here in the country. 3200 SQ foot farmhouse on 4 acres. 155k is all i paid for our home! $1200 a year for property taxes! Edmonson county

I lived in BG for a few years because I was going to college, lived up in Brownsville most of my life. Personally, the place was not for me. It was the most country-fied version of a city you could get. There's hardly anything to do around there, and the most frustrating thing is the Greenwood mall, which last I looked had more shoe stores than anything else, getting rid of better stores for literally nothing. The place is pretty quiet, which was nice, but because BG is pretty sleepy, nearly everything is closed by 8PM, hardly anything open past then which is difficult for more night-centric people like me. I moved to Canada and I'm much happier here than I had ever been there.

Was born and raised in BG. Everywhere is good, just avoid clay street and that area on the backside of the wku stadium. Oh and you'd have a lot more views if you got out from infront of a green screen and actually ventured into BG. Nobody is going to care you have a camera out. I remember the most massive change that BG had was in the 90s when the bridge on Campbell lane got put in and then went from 2 lanes to 4 (two each direction). I remember the original Walmart use to be thr AFNI building and you could smoke while shopping. That was very early 90s.

From this area and ky had nothing to offer women with special needs children that became adults. The state is to poor and keeps the families poor. A lot of families are on welfare and the CPS system is more crooked than a snakes back to the point of being evil. After your disabled child turns 21, they are on their own and there’s no services to keep these folks in therapy. Nobody knows how to deal with autistic adults. That state kept my family over a barrel and we finally escaped after 20 years being trapped her. The state is a financial trap and times get hard with no money to feed your family, pay utilities and repair your car. I learned it all comes down to politics after I left ky. I moved to a democratic state and my life has made great improvements. My advice to never move to this backwards, financially depressed state. It might be cheap there, it’s because industries keep leaving the state and the last I know, the minimum wage was at $7.25 per hour unless it was increased. This is just pitiful when it comes to inflation. So, I.m not returning to this place to live. So, y’all been warned.

@livinginbowlinggreenkentuc9423
@livinginbowlinggreenkentuc9423 Жыл бұрын
Remember, apples to apples and oranges to oranges. Keep in mind though, there are cities outside of Kentucky and just because it's the 3rd largest in Kentucky doesn't necessarily mean that it is a big city, and as long as the city keeps annexing into the county I suppose that it will only get larger. Further proof that we are a growing community. Thanks for the input.

We just have the one. It’s located over around the Scottsville Rd, Lover’s Lane and Campbell Lane intersection. Lot’s of prop planes and some private jets at times. Private jets are the loudest but seems to very infrequent. Of course it all depends on where you live. There are a couple of neighborhoods in particular that are affected by the noise. I will be covering those very soon.

Was born here and actually left after the 10th grade. My only problem with all the progress is the lack of things happening in the black community whats left of it. Most of the historical history is erased and has not been kept by people that are still there. The greyhound bus company no longer exists and exhausting in the that most events you are the only person of color there. Blacks that attend Western seem out of the loop and wouldn't know where to start for a colorful ethnic reality that would make those that used to live want to return. Just saying.

I've lived here my entire 37 years of my life. There is nothing to really do in bowling green. Unless you wanna get your car washed, go to a bank or go eat fast food. The drag strip is ok but plenty other places with much much better. GM race track is kinda lame. Anything to do with GM wants to much money for what they offer.

Moved to bowling green ky. 5 yrs ago...worst mistake of my life and I am 60 .I don't know what this guy is talking about space. One of my family members is in real estate and I have saw most of the town.the traffic is awful ...the people are pretty stuck up even in the lowest of spots..my childs home is right on top of his neighbors...no room to breathe ..this is not rural..I lived in Daytona and it seemed more roomy than bowling green. Now I live in Scottsville which is outside of bowling green...if you want to live somewhere. That has no medical places or restrauants or anything to do then that is your place..?nothing there. ky. Has so much better places to live than bowling green...if you can don't move there.regret the day I moved even close but moving back where I was is out of my budget.

If you don't like someplace, just move. I don't know what Bowling Green you are talking about, but I and my family have lived there for decades. Sure traffic is horrible on Scottsville Rd and Cambell Lane during rush hour. And I have lost of relatives in Scottsville, so don't diss it too. You either adjust to a place or leave.

So here is my intake about Bowling Green. Born and raised in Chicago and am 49 yo . My parents own various properties in Chicago and they are in their mid 60's. Due to high taxation and weather they brought a 13 acre in Woodburn kentucky which is like 20 mins away from Bowling. Best decision they made. Low taxation and alot of promise. I live there for two months working from home. Woodburn has high fiber internet that few people use!! the current lowest wage is around 7.50 but i get probably 5 times more than that. One of the biggest secrets about Kentucky- I and my parents noticed is actually water. We in Chicago (still have properties in chi) pay around 5k in water bills and we live by a very big lake. Kentucky actually sits on a wealth of water deposits. In a few years the water issue/resource is going to be a national issue. we currently pay about 500 in water bill for a 13 acre land by bowling green. Making this short- there is alot of promise of in Bowling Green.
