Martin Clunes is a gem. Such a naturally humourous and witty person, unlike many hosts and guests whose humour is forced for the occasion. And I liked the way the producers left in all his gaffs. I just don't understand how people can call this a "quiz show". It's 95% pure comedy with snippets of news ... put there as food for comedy.
@Padraigp Жыл бұрын
It is a comedy quiz show you see so you can have comedy and a quiz. 😂 i like the dry hosts better but clunes is hilarious always.
@thedolphin5428 Жыл бұрын
@@Padraigp The reason I say it is 95% humour with news as the trigger for comedic banter and pre-scripted humour is that, *seriously* how many Brit BBC audience would see HIGNFY as their WEEKLY news source? And 6 days/7, and between series, do they therefore miss out on news? And as Paul often says "What is this crap doing in a topical news quiz?". Aw come on.
@Padraigp Жыл бұрын
@@thedolphin5428 i agree its not a news source. Its a quiz though. So thats why its called a quiz.
@thedolphin5428 Жыл бұрын
@@Padraigp Well, only a litte bit though. The quiz aspect is also mocked by everybody on the panel. It is, in essence and in practice, 95% a comedy show.
@Padraigp Жыл бұрын
@@thedolphin5428 ok I get that but the reason its called a comedy quiz show is that its both a comedy....however many percent you want to assess that as...and a quiz. So its called a comedy quiz show. Like 9 out of ten cats does countdown. Like the big fat quiz of the year, Like mock the week. Like never mind the buzzcocks, Like qi, Like wilty. They call them quiz because of the quiz aspect. Im confused as to how this is so hard for you to understand. Anyway have a nice day.

Chris Addison would have done a much better job if he hadn't treated Have I Got News For You like Mock The Week.

I disagree. I think his chemistry worked well. Everyone else on show, and the producers, seemed to enjoy him.

Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view !" Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam." Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!" Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment?"

27m44s - Clunes - it's not funny to be disrespectful of the staff behind their backs. I'm NOT a fun of Clunes overall. He is rarely witty and usually plain crude which is no skill.

Chris Addison is really annoying and OTT on this episode and seems to have something to say about everything, acting as if he’s the King of Comedy.At least he’s overshadowed the smug Ian Hislop who is the one that always looks around for applause and adulation from fellow panellists and audience alike after his comments and quips !!
