There's more than your fair share of games where he is fully playable in non Mario-sports titles, including Super Paper Mario, Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story, and Mario Party 10. I think Miyamoto and Tanabe should stop giving him the main spotlight in Mario spin off series that they didn't even create! (*cough* Paper Mario *cough*)

Super Mario Bros. Blast from the past. It’s like Sonic Generations where modern Mario and Luigi team up with themselves from SMB1 to stop the Bowsers. If you play as Modern Mario/Luigi the levels are 3D and look like they would in odyssey. Playing as classic Mario/Luigi makes the levels 2D and look like if they were in SMB1. Each world is based on a different game W1: SMB1 W2: SMB2 W3: SMB3 W4: SMW W5: SM64 W6: SMG W7: SM3DW W8: SMO The world boss are the final bosses of each game. Like Wart is the final boss of W2.

Eggman at least fails because he gets overconfident in his abilities by allot. He uses his high IQ on dumb things. If Eggman faced Sonic without giant mechs that constantly have obvious weakpoints, he might win. The guy is super fast on foot! He would've won in Sonic Unleashed had he not discarded the out of power Chaos Emeralds he drained upon transforming Sonic. But he got cocky and rushed without thinking. To quote Wave the Swallow: "Eggman may not look smart, but he is."

Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story is the most notable, but also worth mentioning: Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars (my icon is from this game) and Super Paper Mario (Technically Paper Bowser)....And these non-official games. :)
