Yeah I hate that he just did that so easily when I took the harder path 'cause I didn't know you could do that. Then again, I collected over 50 cat shines before using the giga bell the 4th time and completely skipped perma-fury mode (I didn't even know it was a thing until I heard people complain about it later) so I'm not really one to complain about people taking the easy path

Fun fact: you can actually make bowser go away without having to collect a cat shine. All you have to do is find one of a few graffiti spots that spawn a gold pipe leading to a bonus room, then you just need to enter the pipe and when you leave the bonus room, bowser will be gone. (note: I have not tested this on the version of bowser that won't go away with cat shines)

If it helps Simple, you didn't actually miss the island a billion times. At 3:51 you can see the island marker is grey, not golden, like it is at 6:08. This means that the Isle spawned at one of the other three remaining spots, since it just spawns in one of 5 random places, and doesn't respawn in a given area of you've collected a lucky shine there.

I've been thinking recently, in SM64 can you shot out of the cannon onto the spinner enemy and then get into the state where Mario is spinning but has all of the momentum of cannon shot...?

mario is a projectile after being shot out of the cannon so even landed directly on it just causes it to explode I'm p sure. it is however possible to shoot out of a cannon, interact with the ground for only 1 frame to retain speed, and then land on a shyguy and you'd be big speed mode
