I think Eggman was trying to lure Bowser away from his troop to give his own troops a better chance at actually taking a portion of Bowser's army. good commentary. Also like to add for the line, "I'll crush you." There was an old flash animation had a bit of a revival called Super Mario Bros z. Where Metal Sonic was the main villain and the line. "I'll crush you." Was basically his go to phrase. The series also inspired the stage for the first 1 minute melee between Bowser and Eggman.

Characterization of bowser is also peak when it comes to how he reacts to certain things For example, when the gravity is crushing the koopa troopa, you see Bowser, instead of try to attack infinite, holds several minions in place to protect them. And as you've shown, protecting his troops from the mega death lazer And my personal favorite, the "dad powerup". Went all out the moment Jr. Was on the floor

2:18 I love how Metal gets characterized with this shot; He's fast and percise. Metal knows his efforts are wasted being part of the intial invasion force or dealing the smaller enemies, so he only appears when something of high value (the Ruby) is in play, grabbing and immdiatly speeding off. When he loses it, he immediatly does a 360 with his head (Can I say I love the little head jam btw) and immediatly targets Bowser. And since he knows the Ruby is lost, he quickly changes strategy and goes Neo, killing Bowser in one shot. Metal reappers to quickly take the hit for Eggman, and make distance between him (Metal) and Bowser. Returning with the 7 Emeralds, and immdieatly knowing where to strike Bowser, blasting straight through Kamek's pipes and killing him so he can't interfere with Sage anymore. He's only impeded by Bowser Jr./Shadow Mario who barely slows him down with the X. And Metal seemed to be winning the Beam Fight between him and Bowser, if the Emeralds didn't scatter at that moment. My only complaint is Metal never used Chaos Control

I don’t think Bowser actually died to Metal Sonic though? It looked more like he managed to crack Bowser’s plastron and knock him out: which given his turtle-esque anatomy, is still a SUPER critical blow. Same with Kamek: he gets knocked away but he teleports back in at the end of the fight.

He was actually losing the beam clash with Bowser even with his super neo form. The star combined with Bowser’s form was too overpowered for him. He gave the emeralds to Eggman as a last ditch effort for his team to win.

You know Death Battle made a good episode if you disagree with the outcome, but still think the analysis and animation were phenomenal. Dr. Eggman is objectively the superior of the two villains in my opinion, but who cares? This was eye candy. 🤩 Also, another fun detail I like? When Bowser’s army is looking up at the Death Egg laser firing at them… You can see a Koopa Troopa in the crowd just accepting his fate and praying! Like, everyone else is either in shock or running for their lives. But that guy just started making peace with death.

Actually they were not praying for their lives or in shock, they wholeheartedly trusted their king/leader to save them, and he did, sacrificing his own life in the process (then getting revived by his army once again, this was done by them and not on his own)

One change I'll make to make Eggman's army a tad more varied would be to have Silver Sonic stole the ruby's first and get hit with Kamek's magic (either in the form of chance time or getting turned into a frog of some sorts) then Mecha Sonic would pick up the slack and both one shot Bowser, as well as sacrifice himself when Fury Bowser attacks, and THEN have Metal appear as Super Neo
