Not a habs fan but I watched Kaiden Guhle play junior and they were a great team to watch 6 of them are currently playing in the show.

Hey Fulton. Awesome vid and awesome pulls. Apologies if I sounded like I was complaining in my comment in your first Ice vid. We've discussed the issue of value before and I still 100% agree with you. The odds of getting your value back on a box is next to impossible. Even if Ice had a guanateed auto it would still be next to impossible to get your value back, I like Glacial Graphs but youre right they aren't that valuable. When I look at boxes I try to compare the price to how much of a chance there is to pull something nice. I try to look at what an average box would be like. To me an average box of Ice is a rookie jersey and two Ice Premiers. When I compare that to something like Stature (which is around the same price too). I'm getting a bunch of numbered cards (including a low numbered card) and a guaranteed hard signed auto. To me an average box of stature has a better chance of delivering something nice than a box of ice. A lot of people tend to forget what you said in this video: "if it isn't for you, buy something else". It's 100% true and it applies to me here which is totally fine. This version of Ice doesn't appeal to me so I'm not gonna get it unless it goes on sale. Thanks again for always trying to be positive in your vids. I hope this comment comes across more as me voicing an opinion and not an airing of the grievances. Keep up the great vids!

Great comment. My take is a bit different. The ship sailed on "value" during the pandemic hyperinflation. Cards are like the money supply. When there is mass printing of a currency, there is more consumerism, and more profit to dig out of a recession. However, the value of a dollar decreases due to inflation, as there is more money in circulation. With cards, when ppl flood into the hobby, card value increases due to excess demand but limited supply. Card companies than print more cards to satisfy the excess demand, and card prices tumble. There is a lag before box prices tumble due to reduced card value. We cannot compare Stature to Ice, as they are completely different products with different histories, purposes, and target markets. Stature is a new mid-end flagship product, aimed at those who want OPCP type parallels and autos. Each base is to be protected and appreciated. It is a hits based product geared toward higher-end parallel auto seekers. It only guarantees eight cards per box. UD Ice on the other hand has 72 cards. It is geared toward lower-end collectors who want a tactile OPC base type experience, with die-cuts, acetates, and guaranteed base parallels and base rookies per pack. It's target market is children and teens, and set builders with shallow pockets, not consumed by secondary market trending. It is not about "value" as the Ice Premieres historically were a 0.1% hit. To me, there is far too much ire, accusations, and drama about lower-end products, and how we are being stiffed by UD. No one is twisting anyone's arm to buy all 50 products on the market. It is up to use to either partake or ignore. The reason all this drama exists is to monetize social media channels. At no point does anyone explain broader market dynamics, historical trends, the legacy of each product, or the very, very different target markets. When I buy a box of OPCP or Stature, I do not expect a box of MVP. And, when I buy a box of MVP, I do not expect it to be The Cup. On average, all boxes lose 75% of their value upon break. Some lose 50%, and others lose 90%. But what children or adults are paying for is the break experience. Prices most often are due to the gaming and gambling realities of the present day card culture, not resale value. Otherwise, why do ppl join most group breaks only to immediately list the cards on Slabshark? Gamers are not collectors, or investors. And, they certainly are not children. Few if any kids want to break a box with only eight cards that they can't physically trade because they are too young to grade or protect the cards. They want boatloads of cards they can keep in their schoolbag, or show off to their fellow pee-wee friends at the rink. I don't watch children's cartoons anymore, or buy children's clothing. But I don't take to social media to create drama about how lame children's Netflix shows or clothing is. And, I certainly don't do it to grow my channel and earn income. I simply enjoy boxes for what they are, and urge people to await seasonal sales, whereby demand and supply prices intersect. So ya, there is no guaranteed auto in UD Ice. When I was a kid, autos didn't even exist. Did I meltdown over it? No. I bought cards to set-build.

@@Fultoncards Yup value in boxes is long gone, you need to hit a home run to get the value of a box back. Stature and Ice are different products you're right, I only brought up Stature purely because of the similar price range. Ice and Stature don't have any similarities after that. Drama is the exact word there. We're allowed to have opinions and gripes with products, but like you said, we don't have to buy it. There's nothing forcing us to buy a product we don't like. Ultimate is one of the elite products Upper Deck puts out, but 21-22 used sticker autographs for a number of the current top rookies, to me that's unacceptable but I'm not gonna buy it, buying it and complaining about it seems to just be about creating a stir/drama. Thank you for the response, to this comment and my past ones, it's nice to have a good and friendly discussion about this hobby even if we don't have the exact same opinion on it.

I watched a number of Cup case breaks. Even with a case hit you may be looking at 50% to 90% recovering the money you spent on the purchase. It's like paying for a lottery ticket and unless you are pulling a rare card, you get .50 cents to .90 cents on the dollar for the purchase of the ticket. Gambling aspect, plus cards you don't want for the secondary market and just for the fun of the unknown when you are breaking a pack. #dryden

I wasn't complaining about no autos on the last video, I just think for the price point it should have 1 auto guaranteed. If I still collected, I would buy it but maybe wait for a sale or price drop. Still a nice product. #Dryden

Okay, but listen. Release day prices are set by distributors based on thresholds to guarantee slots with the distributor in the subsequent Bedard year. Those prices are equally set by the amount of gaming and group breaks in the hobby. We know ppl are gaming and gambling because if they were serious about "investing" (cards are penny stocks, not investments), they would simply buy their desired cards outright with 100% certainty (as opposed to 1%) on eBay. UD Ice is not an autos product. It's a lottery ticket for a #/99 Ice Premieres acetate product, with die-cuts for children. Release day prices never have anything to do with value. It's about boxes going to group breakers and retailers. The prices always plunge when eBay is a buyer's market. If you do like the product, wait for the boxes to be $60 (or less!) during seasonal sales. If you want to partake in this non autos product during release day, you'll pay a premium, because group breakers and Bedard are setting the market.

@@Fultoncards That's pretty much what I was saying in less words. It's a nice looking product but for the price I'd rather wait for a sale or price drop. When I collected it was for the fun not a gamble on trying to hit the best card. I don't think you ever watched any of my breaks when I was doing them, I always opened product that was easy on the wallet. My one exception was a pack of Black Diamond. I opened junk wax, I opened retail flagship, I opened what I could get on sale or cheaper. All I meant is that I liked the old format of a guaranteed auto for that type of price.
