Hi Mike I have been raising my own Beef since 2017. Utilize my neighbors Burcher Plant, I put my Cows with my next door neighbors herd and he gets the hefers and steers I don't need for my faiy. I replace the cows every five years with quality replacements from another neighbors herd, to prevent inbreeding. I enjoy your presentations and learn and refresh my self after 30 years traveling around he world with the U. S. Navy. I thought it great that your California help started being your sidekick during the Spring, Summer and early fallseasons.

Mike, I have much respect for what you, your family and your team are doing. I grew up in Idaho in the 50s-70s before going into the service and worked on small farms/ranches from age 11. I am re-living a big part of my youth. The alfalfa hay bales we had were a lot smaller than what you're feeding--and we called that "grass"! Thanks for everything. Looking forward to my Jerky order.

This was a great video for today! I have been looking into doing a box like this and I will say that depending where you live, by that I mean in a small town or a large city I think the box types shift. The box I am looking into myself is only for my province, but the company who started it actually has all the farmers they work with listed on the website as well as their farming story and all the products they offer, which is a large variety. These are boxes we choose what meat we want, but these are also farms which are quite far north so they don't have the chances to reach the public as much.

I buy 100 lbs of 93% ground beef from a farm at 6 bucks a lb. It's great compared to the ground beef found in supermarkets. Since I don't have to pay for shipping, I think that's the price difference.

I’ve ordered from Butcher Box and it is ok. I’ve also ordered from Genuine Beef in Chugwater WY but their prices were sky high and it cost double what you charge to ship. Found a great product at a great price with you. BTW just got around to cooking the Hatch Chili Bratwurst, they are excellent!

I'm glad to see that you are seeing the fruits of your labor. I remember going to farmer's markets when I was a kid and getting baskets of produce for a huge discount over the grocery because you were skipping the middlemen and going directly to the source. Today, the cost is higher the closer you get to the source. Not throwing shade on you at all... I'm just not sure that I need to know the childhood nickname of my cheeseburger or need to ensure that my broccoli hasn't been through rehab. I know that better treatment and organic practices cost more but there also seems to be some clever marketing involved.

Hello Mike. Best of luck in all your endeavors. As you know pennies saved turn into dollars as you grow. If your buying your boxes from U-Line, you're probably paying to much. They're great if you're buying 100, but you're getting close to the point where you can purchase them directly from a manufacturer. There are corrugated plants all over the country because empty boxes are very freight unfriendly. I think there's one in Bozeman and there are bound to be some around Denver. There are several advantages to having your own box. First, you can decide the perfect size and configuration. Second, for a nominal fee the plant will print it. That eliminates costly and time consuming labels. Boxes are made to inside dimensions, but shipping rates are determined by the outside measurement. Sometimes a reduction of 1/2 inch off one side can drop you into a lower price tier. Individual factories can make deals that big corporations don't. Most will let you place an order for 1000, 500 for immediate delivery and 500 in 90 days to help you spread out the billing. I assume you have already spoken to your UPS rep about an FAQ ( freight lingo for a discount). Your volume must be approaching one. But, that is a different issue. I buy cuts of beef and pork online. Cuts I can't get locally, like Dino ribs, beef cheeks, tri tips and beef belly. As for pork we prefer cuts from heritage hogs. I shop at Grande Western Steaks and Porter Rd. I have not been disappointed by either. I'll check your website Mike.

The Christmas before last I ordered my husband a gift from Obama Steaks....Ive never been so disappointed. They changed my order & never notified me. Instead of Filets I got tuff sirloin. Yes, I do pack differently depending on who is here. When Jeff is here or Matt its goes fast when both are here along with Erin. Matt pre-stages boxes and get dry ice together. I think there is a video somewhere of all of us.

Great video! I’ve shopped Kansas City…half pounders…..and I’ve just recently had Moink (where steaks were 1/2”, Filet Mignon also 1/2”, very tough roast, some chicken and salmon and of course pork …most highly unsatisfying…strip steak taste fine. This video…very believable and trustworthy.
