Most novice tractor buyers don't know what they need and don't know the capability of a tractor in experienced hands. Way back when I sold Deere tractors at Lawn and Garden dealer where we were limited to selling tractors 60 horsepower and less. People would routinely come in and want a 30-40 horsepower tractor with loader and backhoe plus a belly mower or grooming mower, landscape box and any other implement we had on the lot that would fit it. My mindset always ran to put the customer on what he "needs" because most novice buyers really don't have a clue what they really want. But many would come in looking for what I described above and after talking to them a while I find that they live on 1 or 2 acres on the edge of town and a have no need for a backhoe or many of the other attachments. I would show them what would make more sense for their application then let them make an informed decision. Many times I would downsell them and lose money on my commission but I've never had trouble going to sleep at night.

I like hearing this. Not many would do what you did by actually caring for the customer! Thank you

Now that was a long driveway, personally I enjoyed watching you scrape it, and I enjoyed seeing you feed the cows. On the hay situation my best advice to you is to pray about it and let the Lord guide you. Stay safe and once again great job.

I agree on the pray about it. Part of me wants to do more and then sometimes I think I should cut back. I’m scared I’d miss doing it more than the loss of income from cutting back. Thanks for watching

I'm really liking that John Deere! It seems like a nice comfortable tractor to use. That box blade does a great job. You likely could get a better after-market seat. New tractors up here are expensive too! But they do offer 0% financing here on new tractors. Running the roads a lot can put a lot of wear on your equipment for sure. The cows were waiting for you! Take care, buddy.

I agree with what you're saying, I can't justify that additional cost for four wheel drive either. For us we would only use it a few times a year and the truth is that we only really need it a few times in 5 years. I think the margins on tractors are higher than cars, but I don't have any real proof of that, just my thoughts. Take care and I hope you have a nice weekend!

Those dealers are sumpin else!!! They think if it’s on their lot it’s automatically worth more even if they’ve done NOTHING to the equipment!! If they mark up equipment $10,000 they could give $5,000 more for trade in, & some do but they cover the difference in doc fees & such, so your not really getting anything it’s just a sales pitch!! You’ve got a workhorse in the M6060 and from what you’ve told in your videos you’ve not had to do much as far as repairs in the time you’ve had it!! With the poor quality & the “don’t care” attitude of most work forces today I’m not buying new until our morals change back to how they were, well enough of that before I get political, keep those videos coming my friend, my family truely enjoys watching them & we make it a family time watching them!!

Average dealer markup on used late model 60+hp tractors is $10-$15k. I feel equipment prices have gotten way out of control. Round balers at $50k+ tractors $75k+. If its financed most equipment is on a 4-5yr note which comes out to one hell of a payment every month. The profit margins are very very slim in the hay business.

You’re probably right about investing in your hay closer to your house. If you increase your rolls/acre through fertilize, lime, seeding, etc… you would probably come out the same, and not have the travel time. The 60 degree days we’ve had this week, is getting me ready for #HaySeason2024

Another wonderful video my friend it's really disheartening to see how dealerships try to jewelry you down on pricing and then turn around and mark it way up to try and make a dollar
@khtractors4 ай бұрын
You expect them to sell for more but shew that’s nearly a $17000 increase. Thanks for watching
@robertwyatt82094 ай бұрын
I think you’re right concentrating on your local places and not spread yourself as thin. Also think you’re correct regarding money out of pocket for what you end up with on newer machines. I can understand maybe wanting a newer cab tractor but if you stayed more local and cherry picked your operating, it may cut down on tractor hours and yield better returns to boot…
@khtractors4 ай бұрын
I’m beginning to think that as well. After a few more years I may transition that direction on the hay fields. Thanks for watching

When I bought my little Mahindra max24 with loader and tiller, box blade, angle blade and got a trailer thrown in for free because they were trying to get rid of the tractor because it was old stock and they didn't want to have to buy the tractor and it was only 18k total out the door. I spent 18k total out the door on my used kubota L3130 with loader canopy 2 rear remotes and 2 implements. A cab and other attachments would be nice but not a doable deal rite now.

You want to see something that will make you scratch your head. Look at the price of a 4066R cab tractor with loader. Then look at a 5067 or 5075E with cab and loader Its amazing how much they want for the small tractors. I was looking at a 4066R but i got a 5065E with cab loader and 4WD new for almost $20K cheeper. I got way mor tractor for alot less. Happy i went with the 5 series i would not have been able to do what i want with the 4

I would feel the same way. If that is all they was going to offer you on trade in and then they would make a good profit off your tractor. I would keep the 6060.

@khtractors4 ай бұрын
You’re actually better off buying the weights from Deere if they have them in stock or can get them on a stock order. Shipping is outrageous to order them and have them shipped to you. Mine were $170 each from the dealership. Thanks for watching

On the 2wd vs 4wd debate, as probably most here, I grew up with 2wd tractors. In my case a Ford 3000 and then a Massey Ferguson 235 which we still have. You learned how to get the job done. I have been eyeing new tractors for years & every year the prices get a little further out of reach 😅 We really need a tractor with a loader & that is where 4wd really shines. We will end up with a M7060 or an 🤤M4-071 🤤 one of these days.... Hopefully Tractor Mike is correct in saying prices are may be coming down. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qZCbeoBvfJadbJosi=ZfXLavm_u89R6G9u

We have a neighbor with a M7060 a one that has a 2wd MX4800. I have ran both several times. Both are nice. The only thing that I dislike about all the new ones is the push button pto. What was wrong with a 2 stage clutch?...🙄😂 Pushing the clutch stops the tractor & pto which makes much more sense to me when bush hogging in rough stuff.

I would keep your 6060 for now too. They didn’t offer you anything close to what it’s worth. The new ones are so expensive. I had my 8N Ford for 40 years and when I started looking at new tractors it put me in shock when I looked at the prices. I did end up getting a Kubota MX5400 gear drive open station with a loader, backhoe, 3sets of wheel weights and loaded tires. It was very expensive but I enjoy it and I kept my 8N. I enjoy your videos Ben thanks.

I don't know is the 7060 70hp? Either way those guys are going to invest time and money in doing all maintenance and put fresh rubber on that thing remove anything that's not factory (if it make it tough to sell) and then hope somebody want it. So don't get me wrong I feel for you but they have to sell it to someone for a price they'll pay. I look at it like if I would pay that for a used piece of equipment over a new one I'd just keep it if I didn't have to have a new one. Seem like you got a JD and Kabota in similar sizes (kind of like apposing twins). You're not tractor poor, I think you got rid of the Massey, the Farmtec must not have the hp to bail I would trade that one or sell it outright. You could probably get rid of a bus and a few other things/toys to make room for some thing else. Maybe even fix the 4x4 on your sxs, Kabota should help you out since you spent so much money there. Covid made prices double so.... That doesn't help. The ones you have don't cost you anything other than maintenance, run that Kabota till it breaks!
@khtractors4 ай бұрын
All I’m saying is they’re not putting anywhere near $16,900 into that tractor above the trade in offer. I was just shocked at the difference. Also if I traded nothing not factory would be left on. The Massey and Farmtrac both have significant sentimental value to them. I might sell them one day but don’t have any plans too soon. The black bus I have again is something I wanted and has sentimental value to it, incase you hadn’t seen that was my school bus and Dad drove it. The other belongs Dad and Mom. Like I said I’ll probably just keep running what I have. Thanks for watching
