I think a fixation is when you cannot force your mind off of a topic, almost as if you can't help but only think of x. You become fixated with the idea of x. Whether X is a girl, idea, an achievment, ect. When contemplation is more of a, as you said, "willed" thought, you are contemplating the universe. Contemplating the design, ect. As is what is noble, I think that depends what is being fixated or contemplated. I do agree that contemplation carries a noble connotation, but isn't always noble. Thanks.

Really cool fractal at the end, great video. May I ask what program you used for the fractal? If you ever decide to do more fractals, Mandelbulber 3D has lots of options, including anti-aliasing, which would eliminate any graininess
