In this video, I'm sharing with you why you shouldn't do box jumps for improving your hitting and blocking skills. Box jumps and volleyball are both great physical exercises, but they're not the best way to improve these two important sports skills.
The problem is that box jumps teach the hips to bend or flex in the air and that's not the correct position for the hips in the air for hitting, spiking or blocking.
The hips should be extended in the air to maximize vertical jump and to perform the specific movements of power hitting and blocking.
Instead of performing box jumps, you should focus on exercises like the superman/superwoman jumps, which are performed by straightening or extending the hips, knees and ankles in the air.
